No Surprises
The Carolina Hurricanes announced this afternoon that Ron Francis would be the new Assistant General Manager for the team, taking over for Jason Karmanos who just resigned last week. Francis had been working as the Director of Player Development for the team. The move comes as no surprise since Francis had recently stated to a local news station that he was very interested in the position, and General Manager Jim Rutherford was quoted as saying that the replacement candidate list was short. Personally, I'm happy with this move. While Francis doesn't have specific GM experience, neither did Karmanos when he started. Ron has credibility and has vast experience dealing with management as a player. That experience can't hurt him while he's sitting on the other side of the desk. Nice job CC readers, who picked Francis by 87% of the vote on our latest poll!
Good choice JR, and good luck Ron!

s.o.b…..commies hurt now too? great, with the impending pittsburgh game friday that’s all we need. Scince stilltheman is out too. sheesh. remember last year we lost 3 to nada against the devs right after going to OT with the sadbres. and lost. But this Caniac knows better. it would just be nice to open a season with a couple of decent wins. I mean our 1st month schedule is loaded down with loaded teams. If we can hit mid november with a hot record, that could send a heck of a message to the rest of the conference. Know what I mean. Keep ya heads up about friday caniacs.
