Heartache Tonight - Flyers top Caps in OT
My condolences to Washington Capitals fans. That had to sting, losing in overtime of a game 7 at home. But the Caps had a great 2nd half of the season and it must have been enjoyable to watch the fever take hold of the Capital City.
It will be interesting to see what kind of team George McPhee puts on that horrid ice surface next year. Will Huet or Fedorov be back? Will Kolzig retire? Regardless, most of the young players will be back and my guess is that the Capitals will be the Hurricanes toughest competition in the division next season.
This sets up a couple of interesting matchups in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. In one series it's Marc Staal versus Jordan Staal as the Rangers take on the Penguins. Who will Eric be rooting for?
How long will it take Sean Avery to try to goon it up with Sidney Crosby, and how long before Georges Laraque gets involved? The thing about the Pens though is that they have several tough guys to go at Avery. I don't think that Sean will get away with as much as he did against the Devils.
Montreal will face the Flyers. Will the Hab Nation burn down the entire city if they win this round?

Could Huet be coming to Carolina? Hhhhhhmmmmmm….. Might be a nice fit. As far a Federov, I bet we see him in a Caps uniform next year for sure. I think he earned it with them, and it seems to have been a story much like Samsonov, in that the playoffs woke up a beast that no one has seen in awhile from the SurgeMaster! God love the Russians!

I hope we do not waste salary on an expensive backup goalie, we need to upgrade defense first! Cam is a true #1 goalie, just young and still developing both physically and mentally. we need a capable backup whocan play and win a few games and can push him a bit like Leighton.

HA! Karma comes around full circle. Now Washington’s followers are acting how The Carolina fans were and deemed whining hicks. “we were robbed, we had to beat the officiating too” I love it! I’m no Flyers fan.

Once again, the officiating is brought up – and not just in the Caps / Philly series. While some of that can be attributed to fans looking to place blame as to why their team lost, the League had better get a grip on officiating again and get some consistency going – something that has ALWAYS been lacking in this sport. Consistent officials. Just when they seem to achieve it, the officiating falls apart again. League wide.
