Boychuk the Man for Carolina

Stay connected for news and updates

The Carolina Hurricanes selected Zach Boychuk with the 14th pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Boychuk was noted as being one of the quickest players in all of the major junior leagues. He scored 33 goals and had 72 points in just 61 games for Lethbridge last year. The only question with Zach is his smallish, 5'9 frame.

Sought after defenseman Colton Teubert was selected at number 13 by Los Angeles. How many defensemen do the Kings need? Looks like the Canes should have traded up a bit if they really wanted Teubert.

It was also mentioned during the draft show that the Canes were talking with the Vancouver Canucks regarding defenseman Kevin Bieksa. We'll see how that works out.

(update...) More about Boychuk here and here.
