The NHL will officially announce the full schedule on July 16th, but there are sure to be some “leaks” before then.

has anyone been to a red/white scrimmage if so how is it?

We went two years ago and it was pretty great. There weren’t many folks there and we thought it would a great warm-up for our 2 year old. We got seats right next to the penalty box, most of the regular season guys were there and it was a great game. The contact level was about on par with the All-Star game, but a good game nonetheless. There were some pretty goals scored.

Just when I thought we wouldn’t have to see the Crapitols 4 times at home this year….I realize that some of this has to do with close proximity, but can we play someone outside of the division for pre-season? why not the isles, rangers, or penns? These teams involve the same travel as Philly. For that matter why not St. Louis or Columbus. The team prolly likes it cause it limits travel.
Thoughts anyone?

While I am not a big fan of the Home-n-Home game format I can agree this arrangement makes good sense. Especially in the $$ category. Not to mention that we get a nice mix with just three teams this pre season. Of course I’d enjoy someone a little more remote from the West- Nashville also makes good sense in the $$ area. Not too sure if JR has a hand in this arrangement but this schedule makes good business sense to me with regards to costs.
On another issue, did anyone read the N&O article today regarding internet ticket sales?? On hand A the new General Assembly Bill requires vendors to provide refunds for counterfeit or late delivery on tix and prohibits ticket buying software…on hand B the new bill allows a form of legalized “scalping” and could scam ticket buyers out of the market by running the costs up. If you haven’t read this, you should as it may ultimately effect all ticket markets.
Sorry Bubba to bring in a political issue here. I have guilt for soiling this pure hockey venue. But I felt this needed further discussion as the Canes seem to be in favor of this bill along with Lowes Motor Speedway, the Charlotte Bobcats, and the Carolina Panthers.

Salim-

I have gone to several red/white scrimmages and agree with Janey. I think that they are well worth the trip. The rookies get into it a bit more than the vets do, but it’s still good hockey.

Swenk-

I was just happy to see that the team wasn’t making a trip down to Florida for multiple pre-season games again this year.

Eman-

I think the ticket bill issue is very relevant and I plan to post an article about it after a bit more research. I can see pluses and minuses regarding it right now.

A lot of these scheduling decisions are based on building availability, which can be difficult to coordinate.
