Testing - Updates

(Update)

I was able to backtrack and make the original template work again. There certainly are things that can be improved, but perhaps I can make the improvements at a later time with the help of a web developer.

Thanks to all for your comments, suggestions, and patience.

I'm going to be doing some backups, upgrades, and testing of the system and various templates for the next day or two. Feel free to leave comments in order to test how everything works as well as leave feedback about what you like or dislike about the new look.

In the process the site should operate normally, so feel free to look around just like usual. I will be working on the logo and graphics after we pick out the final template.

I honestly hate the layout of this 30threads site and the new layout, it’s way too cluttered. Thank goodness I have google reader otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get the brilliant info on your blog.

Thanks for the comments, Matt. I’m not trying to make this site look like “30threads”, but I need to change to something and I will continue experimenting. The old template has not been updated in 2 years and is becoming too outdated.

I prefer the way the comments work in this template.

Not real thrilled with this one, either….but maybe I just need to get used to it.

I like the three column set-up, but maybe with the main column with the posts in the middle and more offset (like by color) from the main text.

I really dislike this layout, text is all scrunched together and really hard to read. The previous setup was great, non-generic and functional.

I don’t like this one either. Maybe there is some way that I can tweak the old one to work better. I’ll keep working on it.

too much white background for my taste. Keep on revising. Will give my final thoughts after you are finished.

Thanks for the feedback. This is the 3rd different theme now, and I’m still not happy with it.

I prefer to have a “fluid” look where the contents will take up the entire screen.

Beach Caniac, thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it. I’m all thumbs when it comes to photoshop.

I dont mind this setup.. I like the comments sections MUCH better, but the links are more difficulty. They are all just too close together. I agree that update was necessary. The old site was really out of date, as great as it was! ;-)

Eh…..it’s just something new. Everybody will get used to it and new readers won’t know the difference anyways. as long as the substance matter remains top-shelf i couldn’t care any less what the layout looks like. You write it and we’ll read it.

Bubba, It’s an interesting layout here, and maybe with some time I may grow to like it. It seems a bit plain though. I liked the old format with the links on both sides of the blog text, I think that makes for a very useful site.

Also, Hanrahanfan, that is a fantastic screen-name. Is your wife named Susan?

by C-Leaguer on Aug 2, 2008 2:34 PM EDT reply actions

The only 2 problems i have with it are the white background, and I kinda liked the posts in the middle with the links and the info on either side of the posts. It’s not terrible either – I agree with Hanrahanfan. It looks good.

I don’t really like the colors. Maybe move the main section to the middle and put the links on ether sides. Maybe also have a Red, White,Black theme instead of white, red.

This is a little scary. Too much on one side.

by Canesrdabest8 on Aug 2, 2008 5:57 PM EDT reply actions

I like this one, too, Bubba, but like C-Leaguer, liked the main text in between the two columns….but I like the simplicity of this one, and it loads about 10 times faster than the old one.
