LaRose Appears Thursday and Jimmy V Golf is this Weekend

Chad LaRose, (known by some as the "Chuck Norris of Hockey"), will be in Holly Springs from 4:30 to 5:30 on Thursday evening for the grand opening of a new RBC Centura Branch. There will also be a "special offer" for opening night tickets. For more info check here.

Also, the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held this weekend. For the second consecutive year, the event will be held at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst instead of the longtime location of the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

I received a tip about this from a reader who saw an announcement on WRAL, but otherwise I have not heard a thing about the event so far this year. I think that the upcoming date might take a few people by surprise because it is usually held later in August. There will be a variety of activities all weekend long, but the golf tournament itself will be held on Sunday from 8:30 to about 3.

As usual, several Hurricanes will attend, (past and present). Some notable attendees will include-

  • Chad LaRose

  • Cam Ward

  • Aaron Ward

  • Tom Barrasso

  • Bates Battaglia

  • Chuck Kaiton

  • John Forslund

Here is a complete listing, which is subject to change.

This is a great event to attend if you can. Obviously it's for a very worthy cause, and it's usually a lot of fun. I'm just wondering if attendance has suffered since the location was moved out of town? I might just take a drive south this weekend and find out.

You gotta get an interview with A Ward, make that drive!! He’s done well. bates is back in town, that’s great. Dang this is like 4th hand info.

I sure wish this was made more public. I’ll tell the few folks I know and hope they pass it on.

I think I would suggest that while I’d rather it be in Cary, it isn’t on the same level as Pinehurst. When in Rome and all…

Where’s Whitney? I thought he was a golfer…

I hope the ’canes get some good publicity for the cause!!
