Pete Friesen Fun Run Sunday Morning

If you haven't signed up yet for Pete Friesen's "Fun Run", it's not too late. They will be accepting registrations on-site at the RBC beginning at 7AM. The day's events start at 9. Of course all proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For more information, check out this link.

Last year's event was a lot of fun and was extremely successful. I participated then, but will not be able to attend this time around. To see a couple of pics and a review of what happened last year, try this link.

Good luck and good times to all.

Great event. I ran and loved to course, at least, when I was in the shade. It was very well laid out. The players were great and very involved with the fans. Even Mike Commodore came to the event!!! Yea he was late but better late than never. I think he wants to come back as much as we want him to come back. They said there was around 1100 runners. Who knows how many were there that didn’t run. We have by far the best organization and players when it comes to fan relations. Go Canes!!!

Ran in the event as well – I second what McCoy said. There were MANY players there, and mingling with the fans as well. Good to see J Williams running. You could tell they were having a good time as well. Well organized, well attended and Forsland did a great job as MC. Although Commie showed up late, he still went out and ran the course!

Thanks for the reports. Wish I could have made it.

There are rumors that Rod finished the race and limped off into the RBC center and was never seen again.

Did he skate this morning? Did he re-injure his knee?

I was hoping that Chip would comment on this, but the old man is twenty steps behind.

Some of the ‘Canes finished and left at varying times – I guess because of previous engagements. It was extremely humid yesterday morning and pushing 90 degrees. There were a LOT of dehydrated people there, which also means muscle cramps, and wouldn’t be surprised if it were just that. I think Rod finished the race while everyone else was about half way through, so not many people got to see Brindy finish!

Good point marc. Hope that was the case.

Thanks.

No Rod at practice this morning. This is not like him to miss practice so lets hope he is just taking some extra precautions if it is the knee.

Hopefully it is a muscle thing and not a knee thing. There is nothing official out about it.

FINALLY! Thanks Ed!! I just checked LSB and he added that Wade and someone else showed up for practice today. How can anyone NOT notice that Rod was not there, if indeed you are right.

I keep thinking of Erik Cole’s soccer warm-up game incident. It would be heartbreaking if RB is hurt and unable to play. He’s worked so hard to recover.

I want marc’s suggestion to be the case, but I am worried it’s bigger than that.

Bubba, can you get the facts for us?

Sorry AD, I’ve got nothing on this. We will just have to be patient and see what happens.

I thought Stall should have stayed a little longer. He seemed to have just disappeared after the run.

I think Rod will be fine. He’s a very committed and hard working player who knows what his body can take. If he doesn’t think he can practice, I trust his decision. I bet he was in the weight room the whole time anyway.

AD was right. Brindy needs to have his knee “cleaned up” and will miss the first two weeks of training camp. I’ll make a posting later this morning when I find out more.

Thanks Bubba (I think). He must be furious and frustrated. On the bright side, better now than later in the season. Knowing Rod, I bet he had an MRI yesterday and the arthroscopy right after.

Hope this procedure does the trick and closes the book on this one.

Torn meniscus. Had surgery yesterday. Left knee. The JR just announced it.

Yep, just got the presser and posted it. Thanks again AD.

I was hoping for the best….

marc, I think we all were.

Bubba, thanks for making this blog the “go to resource” for all things Cane. I used to count on LSB also, but seems like that will no longer be the case. How could grampa not see that there was something brewing is beyond me.

Heck, you weren’t even there and still managed to get the scoop before anyone else did. Good on ya mate!
