World Juniors Start Today

The World Junior Championships get underway today in Ottawa, Canada. You can keep an eye on some of Carolina's prospects as Drayson Bowman from Team USA will be facing Team Germany starting at 3:30 while Zach Boychuk and Team Canada will be playing Michal Jordan and the Czech Republic tonight at 7:30. The NHL Network will be televising all of USA and Canada's games. For a complete schedule, check out this link.

The Hurricanes number one draft pick from 2008, Boychuk is already representing well. During a practice game on Tuesday against Slovakia, the winger scored two goals and Canada crushed the competition, 7-0. Will Boychuk upstage the prize in this year's draft, John Tavares?

Team USA romped Latvia 13-2 in their tune-up game.

Of course Team Canada will be the favorite going into this tournament, but they don't always win it. The last time they lost was when USA won gold back in 2004 when Canada had Marc-Andre Fleury in net. It will be tough to beat the Canadians on their home turf though.

Michal Jordan?? Didn’t he learn his lesson from baseball? Stick to basketball, golf and gambling Mike.

Bowman had two goals and was named the player of the game for USA. Nice start. USA won 8-2.
