Staal Named to All Star Game Again

The NHL just announced the East's roster for the All Star game to be played in Montreal later this month and once again Eric Staal will represent the Carolina Hurricanes. Of course, the franchise player for the Canes was the MVP of the game last year and used the experience as a building block for a tremendous second half of the season.

The starting lineups were previously voted on by the fans and include Pittsburgh's Malkin and Crosby, as well as Montreal's Price, Kovalev, Markov, and Komisarek. (Way to go Habs fans).

The rest of the lineup for the East will include, Ovechkin, Staal, Lecavalier, Vanek, Savard, Parise, Heatley, Kovalchuk, and Carter. Not too shabby of a group.

The previously mentioned Canadiens defensemen will be joined by Bouwmeester, Chara, Streit, and Tomas Kaberle. Carey Price will share netminding duties with Tim Thomas and Henrik Lundqvist.

We will have much more about the All Star Classic later, (and the absurdity of the fan voting). Congratulations to Staal.

I think that the amount of Hab’s players on the all star team is a joke. Carey Price starting is a joke seeing that he has been hurt a good bit of the season. Now I understand where the game is being played and the home crowd wants to see their players in the game(even though they get to watch them ALL season long) but its not fair to the players out there who really deserve to be there along with the fans!

Congrats to Eric!

In other Staal news: Jordan signs four-year, $16M extension.

What are you talking about Jonathan?! Carey Price is God!! ;-)
(Kidding, to all of those who are new to this blog)

Congrats to Eric. Maybe he can rack up back to back MVPS.

Congrats to Eric as well. Back to back MVP’s would be awesome. Was wondering who the third goalie would be after Price and you figured Thomas would go. There was some talk of Fernandez (also out of Boston) or even Scott Clemmensen. Lundqvist is third in the league in wins but his GAA and SV% are both 25th of goalies having played at least 15 games. Not great numbers if you ask me but I don’t make the call.

Also got to bring up my Islanders roots. Good to see M. Streit make the team (though there wasn’t much of a choice here) but also interesting to note that he is tied, with Dan Boyle) for league lead in pts for defenseman, think MTL misses him on the PP?

But Daaaad… I thought I was Jesus Christ
(reference a 25 year old Bill Cosby film for that one)

So the Montreal Canadians are taking on the Western Conference All-Stars? Is that what I hear….
