Dominating win in Albany last night
via albanyriverrats.com.ismmedia.com
The Albany River Rats won 6-1 last night with rookie goalie Mike Murphy making his professional debut and wowing the coaches and crowd with both his skill and demeanor. This follows a 5-2 win Friday night. Rats' blogger The Infestation has a mini-newstand of local re-caps to look through (and to help you put the Canes' loss in Tampa Bay behind you.) Good to know that things are going to be interesting in this franchise for years to come. Go Rats!
Players, other than Murphy, named for their outstanding play include Drayson Bowman, Patrick Dwyer, Jerome Samson,Zach Boychuk, Stefan Chaput, Zack Fitzgerald, Nick Dodge. The fact that 10 of 20 players on the River Rats roster are less than 21 years old seems to be the biggest story for the local Albany media. How cool is that?
Reminder - the Rats come to Norfolk to play the Tampa Bay affiliates (the Admirals) for back-to-back games over Thanksgiving weekend. Think about going: might well give you some great bragging rights in 10 years to say you remember seeing these kids play when they were till in the America League and you knew then they were something special.
Unfortunate footnote: D-man Brett Carson broke his wrist in the game Friday night and is out 4 - 6 weeks. Cross him off our list of potential call-ups for a few months I guess.

Norfolk
If you do decide to go, overnighting is an easy option as there are a few hotels within walk distance of the arena in a nearby downtown entertainment district, which includes a downtown enclosed mall and several good restaurants.
Spent a weekend up there with our seatmates during the lockout, taking in both weekend games when the Lockmonsters were in town (including the infamous 40+-man Saturday night fight). It was a fun weekend.

Nice mixture of posts and links this year. Love reading the local press and blogs, so nice to have one place to peek and find them all instead of hunting them down one-by-one ourselves.
Count on lots of Caniac traffic to your site. I’ve been a regular visitor, for one.
