Flyers at Hurricanes, Live Game Thread

PrintThere really isn't much more that needs to be said. The players are ready, the fans are ready, it's time to just drop the puck. Tonight's game will be the seventh season opener for the Canes since they moved to the RBC in 1999. They have a record of 2-1-3 in those games.
Games against the Flyers are usually tight. Nine of the last 15 contests between these teams have reached overtime and last season, three of four went beyond regulation. The Canes have a record of 1-0-2 in the last three games while the Flyers have a record of 3-0-2 in their last five against Carolina.
There will be plenty of coverage of tonight's battle. 99.9 The Fan will start things off as they have acquired the rights to the name of the pregame show previously on 850 The Buzz. "The Stormfront" will begin at 6:30 with host Mike Maniscalco. The station will also host "The Aftermath" immediately following the game.
FSN Carolinas will broadcast the game in HD beginning at 7 p.m. John Forslund and Tripp Tracy will have the honors.

I’m pumped, but not nearly as much as i would be if i was back at my home on edwards mill. especially with a free ticket,lol.

hey new here to this blog
just moved out to the Grand Canyon from Morrisville it’s going to take some getting used to 4 pm starts and not being able to go to games but thank god for online streaming. Anyway can’t wait to get the season started and see how Cam is going to play after getting his contract, should be better this year with a improved D although we’ll see how they play without Joni tonight.

I haven’t gotten on much since the conf. finals last year but I’ve been following you guys quite a bit. Started a new job…so I’ll not miss another game all year due to better work schedule. Anyways…almost game time! Go Canes!

im sure you’ve seen people get in a fight and on team go on the PP that is because one got an instagator. it is not an auto misconduct unless it happens at the end of the third period. PLEASE SEE Scott walker and aaron ward.

Well I think there were some poor calls/extreme calls against the ’Canes. Both teams look ready to spring, the flyers are the usual brutes, but we are doing ome body crushing in counter. Pretty good game. The first goial (the bane of seasons past…) will be pretty huge. The guys and Cam need to kill this off….

good coach for a young/skilled team. Phoenix would have been a good fit.
I just think he is like torts or hitch. loud enough to make things happen in the begining but too loud to keep it going. Seems the players turn a deaf ear to that style of coaching.

we seem to have a problem with setting up the umbrella. We seem to rather try to rush in 2-2 3-2 and try to get a mini break instead of actually setting up an offense and trying to work a shot/deflection on goal.

If we have to have mistakes on the ice I’d rather Sutter learn and get better rather than Rod fail and wither away. He’s done. He’s been done for years now, it’s the Stevie Y syndrome.
It’s pathetic to have the talent below wasting away while out of some assinine loyalty or blind faith we hope this guy regains yourth, that nobody ever does.

he makes a fine 4th line center and I don't mind him on the line with Sammy and Larose
but he isn’t the 1st or 2nd liner he used to be and as long as we don’t use him like one I’m fine with him still being on this team, although this year should be his last.

wow I feel like I watched a game we should have won 4-1 and we lost 2-0
hopefully tomorrow some of those chances will go in, although I can’t imagine Tim Thomas having back to back bad games. Hopefully Ward is on b/c wow going 0-2 sucks. We should have won tonight by the way we played just couldn’t capitalize on many oppurtunities.

we drew iron atleast 4 times by my count and missed some pretty good opportunities. Emery is a decent goaltender and he played that way tonight. Decent. He should have a 4.00 GAA and the canes should be 1-0. But if “Its” and “Buts” where candy and nuts we’d all have a merry F’in Christmas. Lets just hope this is the only time we are under .500 this year. I guess I will talk to you guys in the live game thread manana.

Missed the game being by being there, so this may have been covered.
What I liked:
Five on five play was good. Ward looked good.
What I didn’t like:
PK, which is what the FA’s were brought in to do.
Now, not to get too personal, but I was in 316, which is where my season tix are, and I had beer thrown on me and the 8 month old who sits near me at the end of the game, and even though I reported it to security and did what I was supposed to do, I got no resolution on this issue. I tried to talk to Steve Congress, who is the head of events and Game services, and was rebuked at every situation. What’s worse is that three minutes after I went to find someone the people who threw the beer glasses left the section and security was still no where to be found. I’m really disappointed because there was no usher at my section to help after the game and the security people refused to try and give me closure after the game.

well lets see, I only read the last few commens. I had friends over and coundt follow the live thread. Really likied the Ifs and buts were Candy and nuts it be a merry f’n christmas line! Either way I thought the canes played really well, and if they do that all season they wil win a lot of games……maybe im drunk so it dont hurt so bad. But i thought we looked really good. Later
