Center Ice subscribers, fear not. STL’s b’cast will be on Center Ice tonight, despite the on-screen guide saying “blacked out.”

Yeah ... I LOL'd at that
Matt Walker used to play for the Blues just a few years ago … he’s in Tampa Bay, now …

The whole losing 7 in a row for the first time in six years is a bit out of context. The regular season shootout has only been around since the lockout so a couple of those losses that we have would have been ties. A more accurate stat would be this would be the first time we could lose 7 in a row since the lockout.
So
this needed to be a statement period
and…..its pathetic
OK never mind about feeling good about this game

that goes either way … when both teams stink, it’s either inept offenses or inept D’s

Here you go............and it's still early
Cam letting in to many goals back to back cost games.
Flyers 2-0 final 2nd period…….goals scored 22 seconds apart.
Boston 7-2 final 1st period……..goals scored 66 seconds apart.
Tampa 5-2 final 2nd period…….goals scored 15 seconds apart.
NYI 4-3 final 2nd period………….goals scored 89 seconds apart.
COL 5-4 final 1st period…………goals scored 31 seconds apart.
2nd period………..goals scored 40 seconds apart.
Blues……………1st period……………goals scored 20 seconds apart
do you realize how BRUTAL the team in front of him is playing? Guys are walking in on him alone left and right. It’s disgusting. Like I said .. are you watching the game?
by Cory Lavalette on Oct 28, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions
I know it’s never Cams fault…..right? A GREAT goalie is a GREAT goalie.

Thank you for this. I knew it’s been an epidemic this year, but I feel that it’s also been something that’s haunted the canes and Ward over the last couple years. However, it’s unfair to put that all on Ward. A lot of that has to do with the defenders sulking or taking a play off after they give up a goal.
Cam has got to learn to refocus after he let’s in goals.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 7:56 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
are you watching? b/c he shouldn’t have to stop back to back him alone vs. an opponent
by Cory Lavalette on Oct 28, 2009 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions
Yes Cory I’m watching every puck Cam let’s in.

Hey guys — from section 311 it looks like a chronic lack of hustle is afflicting our guys tonight.
by hip_check on Oct 28, 2009 7:52 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
i dont know, i dont think its as bad as the score says,
those to fluke walkin goals are odd, but not 100% contrbuted to bad play or non effort
I don’t think the game is over … but the total breakdowns are killing this team. It’s not like they play horribly for 60 minutes each nights. But there are brutal mental errors that kill them. Honestly, Harrison should watch the rest of the game.

be back a little later .. story time for my sweet daugher. maybe I’ll read her Brady Brady for hockey karma
is there any place to listen to those interviews after the games?
caniacgirl is gonna be mad she missed it
Right now it’s looking like lack of defensive discipline and a paltry special teams is dooming the Canes thus far in the season. Thankfully I believe we have the skill set to fix it, but it honestly looks like our coaches need to get some work done.
if I wished you well ...
we both know I didn’t mean it …
Suffice it to say, I hope the Blues win, but also that both teams finish without injury, eh?

Hey y’all. Just got back from a math exam. Saw the score, but how are things going?
Or does the score tell me everything I need to know?
We’re drawing more penalties and leading in SOG, but we’re down by two goals. I’m not watching it but from what I hear our defensemen are giving them scoring opportunities and they scored two goals just 20 seconds apart or so.
It’s called 20secCAM again…you know

Since there is no chat on the canes site anymore.
I´m happy to find this one.

We’re close. I’m a few months older. And I met for like 5 seconds one day after practice, but that was it. Someday…
Is anyone else not getting this on center Ice?!
I see Blackout listed on Time Warner cable 739 but when i go to that channel I see “Game 9 is currently unavailable Please try again later”
Anyone getting it?
So you're not getting it either?
Tyler? Looks like I’m not getting ANY games. ugh!
I called TWC at 7:15. They said they had an outage fpr Center Ice in Chapel Hill, Durham, and parts of Apex (and several of the higher # channels.) At that time they said they hoped it be fixed by 8:30. Ours just come back.
Let's go Canes!

A message to the team? Uhh, if you guys suck and hang out your goalie we won’t bench you we’ll bench the goalie instead? Some message.
Kinda funny how other goalies stop our break aways and other great chances…..ummm

I told ya before that I’ve seen every goal Cam has let in the net tonight.

how can you, in your right mind, pin this on the goalie?
by Cory Lavalette on Oct 28, 2009 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions
Watch Mason…….I’m just saying if you have no D at all your goalie still has to stop shots.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 8:32 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
We get idiots like this at SCH all the time
Some people foolishly expect a goalie to stop everything that comes near the net, and don’t get the fact that skaters in the NHL should be at a skill level to score when alone with a goalie 75% of the time.
Not even Roy or Hasek would be winning this game with the defense the Canes are giving Ward.
Chicagoan in the Lou.
Tomorrow’s practice should be ugly.
Let's go Canes!

as a coach you can only yell so much at them…after a while the players just tune you out…ultimately its gotta come from the players
Yup. They are professionals and frankly shouldn’t need motivation or incentives to play well. It’s their job.
seen three or four Blues jerseys on the feed … so not every one of them is disappointed.

Can we start the “buy Cam a drink” fund? Because he’s gonna need one if things don’t turn around soon.
How about buy him a book on how to stop pucks

But have become a bit of a Blues supporter living here, so I pull for them in all but 6 games a year. In those six they can go to hell.

just callin it like i see it
a couple of weeks ago it was – “we just cant score”
and/or
“if we can just keep the penalties down”
fact is – its EARLY season, but EVERY facet of the game we have struggled at at one point or another
Sorry if this has already been discussed, but since when is sammy on the 4th line? And what happened to Conboy?

this looks like a Russian feed, but good picture. about 5 sec ahead of Chuck. Saw the goal before he announced it. Enjoy
It's October...
Not hard to get it together when the only other quality team in the division is Washington.
Chicagoan in the Lou.
To bad they can’t play 60 minutes like they just played 2.

WOW we’re worst than I thought………..this season is embarrasing
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 9:31 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Positives…positives…come on there has to be one.
Joni had some nice plays. The St. Louis feed had a nice prolonged shot of Brandon. And…no those might be it.
If only Clemson was closer to Raleigh, I’d be there in a heartbeat. But he’s going to have to hang in there (both in terms of spirits and actually staying with the big club) until the 13th.
LOL. My parents may actually kill me since I fought them tooth and nail to come here in the first place. But if they (and by “they” I mean only a select few) really need me, I’d be willing to risk it.
Mo must go MO must go Mo must go

Will this ever end?
Man..I missed most of the game since I am in Atl and had to pick up the final period on the cpu. What the &^&^? Is this pain ever going to end. What gives? Are we really this bad?
Too many Hawks fans said the same thing at this point last year
Same with Blues fans. As I said in another post, your division should make it pretty easy to get back into it. Have some faith. :)
Chicagoan in the Lou.
Hey ....
No one got hurt, so it’s not all bad.

Agreed
Mo probably will not go and you are right..maybe not his fault. I have just been looking for the inevitable opportunity for Ron to be the head coach…maybe this will happen sooner than later
Dear Paladin
Sorry you went to a game that the Canes didn’t show up. Another pathetic performance, I’m now projecting 10 straight losses before we get lucky and win a game. Look forward to you insight on the game.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 9:47 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
So much
4 fan appreciation night. If I had not been traveling, I would have been at this dreadful game. Let’s be positive and look for the Saturday afternoon win in Philly?!
AND LET’S SEE HOW MANY DIRTY HITS RICHARDS CAN GET AWAY WITH??That will be a penalty ridden game!!!!
I think you can count that game as a loss. We don’t have a chance beating them they way were playing. Probably going to be something like 7 to 2. I’m sure Cam will give up some back to back goals……again.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 9:53 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Since I missed the game...
What happened? We outshot these guys like 37 to 19 or something. Was Mason standing on his head or was Cam just off?
no MAson didn’t stand on his head, they actually had this thing called DEFENSE, maybe our boys took a couple of notes?? Mo changed the lines around so much it made ME dizzy, I could go on but I don’t think you want to hear the rest..
ok gotta burp the little man
goodnight,
final words:
im not giving up on the canes. it cant be worse than florida knocking us out on the last day.
a tleast if we stay bad we can look forward to the trade deadline and the draft.
If I was a STH I’d be REALLY PISSED right now.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 9:57 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
The percentages
OK, I didn’t see the game, but defense or no, letting in 4 goals on 17 shots is not good….. give Cam a rest and give Leighton a shot. Changing goalies worked to light a fire under the team’s collective butt in 2006….
Really didn’t have as much to do with Cam as our sucky team in front of him, but I agree, Put Leights in and give Cam a break
You’re right on all accounts. No matter who’s in goal, something needs to happen with the rest of the team. And that something better be a bag skate.
Don’t let Cory hear you say that.
by canescup on Oct 28, 2009 10:15 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Sorry
I have lost all my bearing and am no longer comporting myself like true hockey fan. I am posting pictures of Disney characters and Bill Muray movies. I didn’r even consider anything beer related…HELP!!! I need some sanity!!! I need a win..
I hate to say this, but this team is an embarrassment. i’m a little drunk right now, but this team sucks beyond belief. we should trade everyone we can except for cam, staal, sutter, pits, timmy, and ru. this team should be blown up. get some young guys and draft picks. sorry, but i’m extremly frustrated right now.
by PackPride17 on Oct 28, 2009 10:47 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
what now?
how do we recover from this. I wrote some off to the lack of preseason, to the Bruins killing our confidence after we played philly well. now im just at a loss for words. give cam some nights off, doing him no good to play well behind these guys that put up about 2 a game. even prime Brodeur wouldve had a hard time wining with no support.
I think this pretty much says it all...
“Well you get a lot more confident if you work hard. The simple grind of things we’re just not willing to do and it starts with our best guys. Backchecking and stopping and hitting and not getting beat off walls. Doing it once doesn’t make you a good guy, it’s got to be every shift and we’re just not getting that.”
From Mo’s postgame presser.
You know what would really suck ? If the Canes somehow ended up with the #1 draft pick and picked a lowest ranked player… JR’s words; “Well, we decided to pick (fill in the blank), all because he had great hair.”
