ARE YOU KIDDING ME....

Looks like the 2009-2010 carolina Hurricanes are gonna ride Cam Wards back right to the basement. He is playing totally ineffective. Against the Blues on Wed. night he faced 17 shots, 4 of which got by him. Sorry I am a total C.Ward fan but enough is enough. Sit him and play Leighton. Nothing more needs to be said!  Eric Staal, the man who by alot of Canes' fans has been bequeathed the "c", he against the Blues had a total of 1, yes 1 shot on goal. He had 30 shifts, a total of 23:55 on ice time. Yes lets give our hard working star the "c". ARE YOU KIDDING ME...... there needs to be some kind of shakeup. Bench a few of the "stars" call up some guys from Albany and demonstrate some hunger. Again just blowing some steam, my .02........... and frustrated because I know the Canes' could be a presidents cup team.    AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

you are right, he needs rest.

I do not like Mo’s tendency to play the same goalie for extended period. I hated it at the end of last season, but at least then he was hot and the team was actually playing. Now he is just recording one loss after another, that cannot be good for him even if he actually played well.

C’mon Mo, give him some rest !!!

I agree with the fact that Cam needs a rest, BUT it’s not because he is playing poorly.

by jenniwa30 on Oct 28, 2009 10:38 PM EDT reply actions

Poorly no, maybe not, but his game is deteriorating no question.

by wylde4canes on Oct 29, 2009 8:24 AM EDT up reply actions

how can it NOT?? When the team in front of you consistently sucks, you are being POUNDED by pucks with no help from the blueline, what do you want him to do

by jenniwa30 on Oct 29, 2009 1:14 PM EDT up reply actions

He was being anything but pounded by pucks last night. There are holes in his game and the past three games those holes have started to get bigger. Everyone talks about how he gets hung out to dry, and I agree, and he is stopping most of the shots he should stop. But the great goaltenders stop the ones they should be stopping, and a bunch of the ones that look like they shouldn’t be able to.

For Cam to be a good goalie, he needs to have pressure. Since we aren’t in the playoffs, it needs to be someone that can take his place on the ice. I can’t imagine Leighton having any worse of a game tonight…

D-men simply are not performing & Poor Head Coach ~

Our d-men are very weak around Cam Ward and some of our signings and trying to get guys that are physical are not helping our cause. Penatly mins are way up and this team is under performing again. My answer to is dump crappy a@#! Paul maurice whom we never should have brought back in the first place. Coaching is the issue here and no not the whole staff just the head coach. As much money that has been spent it will not take to many more losses for Rutherford and company to decide that bringing Maurice back was a huge mistake. Cam’s needs rest but Leighton is so bad and ineffective that we cannot afford to put him in their. Mike Murphy should be called up and we should dump Leighton for hockey pucks, LOL.

Oh well I don’t care still going to see my favorite hockey team at-least a couple of time this season.

Forgive my spelling I guess I have the Blues LOL .
Go Canes !

Mike Murphy? That is funny. He has upside but he isn’t even getting starts in the A right now.

Leights is not bad, in fact, he is a good backup. But the more he minds the bench, and the less he minds the crease, the worse his starts are gonna be when they do come his way.

I agree with you on this much, Mo was a mistake. It worked somehow last year, but I really think any coaching change would have worked last year.

by wylde4canes on Oct 29, 2009 8:28 AM EDT up reply actions

you dump Mo now you’ll be paying 3 coaches salaries instead of 2

by Caniac1026 on Oct 29, 2009 10:09 AM EDT up reply actions

Well, with luck someone will pick up Petey boy and we can go back to paying only one guy who isn’t coaching the team. ( Yes I mean Mo)

whens the last time some body benched a star in the nhl.
other than possibly ward for a game, thats not gonna happen

by chrisj on Oct 29, 2009 8:10 AM EDT reply actions

Not sure the Canes even have a player worthy of calling a star at this point!!! So benching them should not be an issue.

I agree. At this point, a little shakeup can’t hurt.

The Canes have shown nothing to put them in the Presidents Cup conversation.

President’s Cup?

They haven’t shown signs of a playoff berth.

by Iggy Reilly on Oct 29, 2009 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel they had a team worthy of pres. cup on paper at the beginning of the season. I agree as of now, goodbye postseason, time to make some moves!

by max creek on Oct 29, 2009 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions

The season so far is an upset.
What will it take for a win??

by EricaBrooke on Oct 29, 2009 10:54 AM EDT reply actions

It’s simply time to blow the team up, salvage the pieces you plan to build with in the future, trade the parts with value that aren’t in our future and get ready for a high draft pick next summer. Sadly, I have wasted money on season tix but at least I won’t have to think about the post season.

Now I just need to figure out if I want to get season tix next year. This is just so sad given how excited we were coming into the season. Perhaps some unemployment for a few dogs on the team will refocus the. Overpaid, pampered queens. Sorry for the rant, I just can’t believe how little heart and pride these guys have shown.

he had 3 days off before last nights game, why does he need more rest than that. He could have faced 4 shots and if they were the same ones he let in last night, I would feel the same way, definitely not on Cam. Staal is another story, I think I noticed him on maybe one shift last night.
