I’m thinking this will be #13 as well. I just don’t think they’re gonna win untill some changes are made to this roster (other than goaltending). They can’t score goals, so they ain’t winning games!

this team looks formidable (LA i mean)…oh *&^%$#@…hopefully we can stay in the game and pray for a shoot out? i mean low expectations i know but with our record so far…i hope our “D” is ON tonight and sutter et. al will work overtime to get some goals. we are gonna have to bust some a$$ tonight like a mama jama. but the penguins did get beat by the bruins so these great teams can be beat. just gotta stick it out. i still think some of our vets are gonna have to be benched and we bring in some young guys ASAP or we’re in serious trouble. maurice is going to have to do it even if it hurts brindy and othes’ feelings. we cannot lose more games. it’s getting ridiculous.

The call on Walker was definitely a penalty. He reached up and punched the guy in the face—it’s the definition of roughing. But before that, a hook should have been called on the LA guy who got his stick parallel to the ice in LaRose’s midsection.
But if you don’t count the goal, it was a good penalty……. :(

why can't mo figure out the kinks?
in the n&o mo said how he uses major profanity in the locker room to get the guys in gear and expects them to “respond” to his criticism and not act like a whimpering dog…basically his comments sounded abusive…i just don’t think this drill sergeant style of coaching is working…if anything it’s making them frustrated. inever found abusive coaches (in soccer) to be effective. i think his harsh coaching and screaming…etc..is making this team worse. just my thoughts.
age-long debate on that one…
they need on-ice chemistry (read consistent lines) and a team psychologist…

all these players being “hurt” or “ill”…i wonder if they’re not rebelling against the coaching staff and management….am i imagining this? why is everyone now hurt or ill. i get cam’s injury…but these “upper body injuries” etc…??? sound s suspicious
nah, the team just won’t disclose injuries so other teams don’t target vulnerable areas on compromised players.

boy...yelling has worked so far huh?
he did this sh*t with the maple leafs too and that worked out well…he got fired and sos did everyone else…he used to cuss at them right out in the open…why would this tactic work now too? it won’t…work on chemistry, power plays, and be positive…good coaches don’t have to revert to abuse.
What about players that can’t be coached? Its not always the coach why don’t you get that?

Dude these are all guys that are locker room kinds guys, I don’t see this ad an uncoachable group. The players deserve blame, but the coaching has been crap. He blows his timeouts, has shuffled the lines to the point of absurdity, rolled the wrong lines after goals against, and has yet to show me he is, as I said, part of the solution

I don’t know. It works from the Canes’ site for the actual game. But it won’t live stream from 99.9’s website. The archive works fine. I’ve downloaded everything they want you to download and nothing.

Hey guys, I just got home from the game. The crowd was really quiet until Ruutu’s first goal — even the Storm Squad was having trouble getting people to cheer for t-shirts. But once it was tied, the place came alive…briefly. Once they scored their third, it was pretty quiet in there. As soon as the empty netter was scored, people started chanting “thirteen straight! thirteen straight!”.
There were some bright spots — one being that I got to meet and chat with LTD. She’s awesome!
oh, no, really? chanting 13 straight?

But what I hate more is people who get there mid-way through a period and then climb over you even though play is going on.
or when a bunch of chicks wearing maple leaf jerseys talk about say yes to the dress REALLY LOUD through the whole game
I had women do that (come late), spill beer on me, and then spend the entire time asking me which players were single.
I lied and said they were all married just to get them to leave me alone.
So who do u think gets the next start? 4 gaa is not Legace standin on his head…… Leights should get it. Question is, how does he respond with all that has gone down?

Back from the Game
As far as I am concerned, the same problems are replicating themselves each game. I thought the crowd was pretty enthusiastic under the circumstances and when Ruutu scored the first goal, the energy level at the RBC definitely livened up. I have very, very strong opinions about what is going wrong. In my view two or three players are simply awful and their play is killing the team’s momentum. Then one adds injuries to Staal and Cam Ward, and it’s going to be a season of very few victories. Ruutu was absolutely giving it all he had, and I am convinced he is doing so while injured. Sutter is being a beast and is blazing fast, intense, and very mature in his understanding of the game. Rodney has excellent speed and quickness and was making tape to tape passes (something almost unheard of this season from the defense). Cullen is hustling. Alberts made some crushing hits. Jokinen was fine except for one time where he was out of position and let a Kings player get inside position in front of the net. Samsonov is skating well. Here’s where my strong opinions come in. Wallin is a disaster. The best thing out of this year is that I am convinced I will never have to see him in a Hurricanes uniform after this year. Brind’Amour is a sad shadow of his former self. He has zero quickness and moves like an elephant on the ice. LaRose is not handling the puck well at all and is making some terrible passes. He can’t buy a goal. Aaron Ward is surprisingly bad. I was very happy he signed with the Hurricanes, but he seems lost much of the time. I don’t have any explanation. I don’t know if he is hurt or if something else is going on; but whatever it is, I am more than disappointed in his play. The team has earned its spot as the worst team in the NHL and every game has twenty minutes or so of total meltdown. I am hoping that Jim Rutherford will see this year as one to lay the foundation for next season and that some key trades and call-ups from Albany will start happening next week or the week after. I am excited about seeing the team as it transitions to next year’s team and think it will be a faster, bigger, more determined team than what I am seeing thus far this season. It’s time to sit or trade some of the veterans and let the young, hungry players show what they can do.
Doug, you and I were certainly watching the same game because I agree with everything you said so thanks for saving me a post.
Ruuty’s most definitely hurt. It appears he’s taking shorter shifts than his linemates, and he can barely skate back to the bench at the end of a shift.
His post-game interview broke my heart. He sounded like he was in tears. So did Timmy. Kudos to both of them for standing tall in front of the microphones. Manny too for manning up (pardon the pun).
