Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

"If anyone thought the NHL's regular-season games in Europe were a short-term experiment, guess again.

The league wants to expand to six teams next fall, up from four, and have approached the following clubs to gauge their interest: Minnesota, Carolina, Boston, Columbus, Phoenix and San Jose. Sources from all six teams confirmed as much but also stressed that it doesn't mean for sure they are going over. It remains early in the planning stages."

I'm not sure what benefits this would have for the 'Canes, though with our favorite Finns on the roster, I'm sure the team would be popular if they did a game in Helsinki.

Please don't send us overseas

I always go to opening night no matter where it is. There’s no way I could afford an overseas trip.

While it would be cool (especially for the Finns if they slotted us in Helsinki) it seems to be the kiss of death for early season success. The Pens went last season and really had a hard time once they came back. The Panthers went this season and the 7-2 drumming they took their first game back seems to indicate they had a tough time with it as well. Plus can you imagine TT overseas? Doesn’t sound like a good idea to me…

OMG, NO, not a good idea…

I’m not sure TT should be allowed out of Raleigh let alone the continent. That screams international incident.

I wonder how much the team has a say (if any) or does the league just pick 6 teams and say you are going?
