please trade Chad LaRose (and the old guys)

last year and before Chad had jump in his step and was trying to make himself unstoppable and relentless.  Last nights game looked lazy, coasting around...

While I am venting lets finally do it and get rid of rod brind'amour, at this point in his career he is a one trick pony.  He is great in the face off circle but doesn't seem to be worthwhile to keep around just for that reason.

We can also start shipping off any of the old guys to make room for some rats.  Brandon Sutter is one of the few people on the ice that look inspired, driven and who is trying to make himself unstoppable.  Perhaps if we get a few more Rats out on the ice with this same mentality then that mentality will rub off on the other guys.

I would even be in favor of benching some of the big names for a game just to let the rats play.  Why not we are loosing anyway, perhaps a ride on the pine will fire up some players.

I agree – I just hope they don’t trade Whitney.

LaRose is being shopped for sure

What we really need is to dump our last D-Line, Wallin is old and tired but is almost impossible to trade with his no trade clause in the final year of his contract. Whitney is going nowhere, and neither is Erik Cole.

Guys on the block:

LaRose, Wallin, Walker

Firing Paul Maurice makes sense and just let Francis and the Rats develop this season. We have to rebuild and this season is leading or going more and more to that direction with each game we play.

Go Canes ! Cannot wait until the Blackhawks game on Jan 30th.

How does firing Maurice now make sense?

Chad La rose is playing like the rest of the team right now. Uninspired, hanging the head. This slump will get into the head. As soon as he scores a goal, or the team wins he will snap out of it. The future of the Canes is on the shoulders of the gritty players that show up for every game ( sutter, Larose, Gleason. etc..) not on players like Staal that show up every now and then. Ray whitney should go, he’s ageing and also not showing up anymore…. Canes need a player with talents like Malkin, Toews, etc… Staal is a streaky player at best, sorry I know he has a lot of passionate fans, but he is holding the team back, listening to Forslund before last night game saying winning without Staal will be hard, winning with him when he shows up every third game just isn’t cutting it either. As for Brindy, we have a candidate for a new strength and conditioning coach. Give Chad some time…. GO CANES!!!!! So frustrated even my comments are all over the place, looks kind of like the Canes PP….

Your comments about Whitney are way off base.

Up until he was injured last game, he has been our most consistent player. Whitney has shown up every single game so far this season and played his butt off.
For you to defend LaRose and bash Whitney is silly.
Additionally, to bash Staal for showing up every now and then is too convenient. The guy has the fourth highest goal total since the lockout. You and others make it sound like Staal only plays when he wants to play, yet until this season he has played through a myriad of injuries w/o missing a game, all the while facing the other team’s top pairing and top checking line every single game.
NO OTHER PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE CARRIES AS MUCH OF AN OFFENSIVE BURDEN FOR HIS TEAM AS STAAL DOES FOR THE HURRICANES.

Anze Kopitar, Shane Doan, Ilya Kovalchuk.

Seriously?

That’s your response? Kovalchuk I can buy, but up until last year he had another elite player on his roster.
As for Doan, I said carries the offensive burden of the team, not burdens the offense of the team.
Kopitar is off to a good start to the year let’s see him do it for an entire season or 4!

Just get rid of Brind’amour. That guy is like an anchor dragging the team down. His postgame comments are ridiculous like Mo’s. Take down all the 06 pictures while you’re at it. Lets start over and stop living in 06.

yes, seriously, that’s my response

just bc you don’t like Doan, doesn’t mean his stats aren’t very close to Staal’s over the past few years. Staal wasn’t even the highest scoring Cane last year. Yes, he’s the future of the franchise. No, he doesn’t carry the ‘highest offensive burden’ in the entire league.

Doan:

07-08: 78 pts
08-09: 73 pts

Staal:

07-08: 82 pts
08-09: 75 pts.

Nice Stats for last two seasons...what about since lockout?

ERIC STAAL :
05-06: 45 55 100
06-07: 30 40 70

Doan:
05-06: 30 36 66
06-07:27 28 55

I never said I don’t like Doan, I was simply making a snarky comment.
Doan does bear the brunt of the offensive burden in Phoenix, but he does have another elite player on his roster in the form of Jovo.
My basic argument is that Staal does what he does without the help of another elite player on the roster.
Kovalchuk and Rick Nash, IMO are the only two players that bear as much responsibility to their teams as Staal. And up until this year Nash wasn’t used on the PK.
The root of this statement is that Staal needs another elite player on his line or on his team to carry the burden.
