I just heard on 99.9 (Mike M) that Whitney is out and Boychuk is in tonight. Can anyone confirm?
Let's go Canes!

“Zach Boychuk will skate on a line with Erik Cole and Matt Cullen tonight against Toronto. The puck drops at 7:08 p.m. at the RBC Center.”
From the Canes on Facebook
hey all
Boychuk on Cullen’s line with Cole. Jokinen centering Samsonov and Ruutu. Sutter centering Brind’Amour, LaRose. Walker, Yelle, Kostopoulos. from ice chip
GM of CanesCountry.com
the good news is that Sutter should get about the same ice time as Brindy, other than powerplay time
GM of CanesCountry.com
And Sutter notches the primary assists on all of them. I wonder how long it will be before the two of them play on the same line.
Mo won’t like it, but if we go down two I’d stick ‘em together and hope. Ain’t nothin’ else worked this year..

These two teams are not playing like the last two. Pretty good effort on both sides. I think we have more jump and our 1st string twine protector.

they need to bring half of the river rats here probably. just to be on the safe side
Hey Brandon lovers…
Does Brandon have his own place here yet or is he staying with one of the other guys or is it option 3?

Oh, never side with Wylde, he’s always pulling my chain and we like to be contrary to eachother. It also sounded like the crap early in the year about these kids needing some mysterious magical exper. in the NHL. I think this is exactly what they and the team needs.
No offene, I’m sensitive to these two in particular. I think everyone is seeing why.
A
What even happened to Procton? He was the loudest of the “keep the kids in the AHL” crowd.
Still not a crook!
He had a point. I still believe they would be better served in the long run by playing tons of minutes a night in the AHL than 4 a night in the NHL. And for a while, that looked like that was going to be the case here, until JR spoke up. It wasn’t that they weren’t ready-it’s clear that they are. It was a looking out for their development thing.

A
not in the direction you’d like? but 60 minutes of play? No points, but good game?
by Andrea's evil twin on Nov 6, 2009 9:44 PM EST up reply actions
They played a good game, but still lost to the second worst team in the NHL. That doesn’t make me feel any better about this team. Our best is only good enough to be the worst…
Right, but I’d argue that a week ago, we would have gotten scored on the first time and then completely fallen apart leading to a final tally of say 5-2.
It’s not much, and it’s not nearly enough, but it’s something.
That something is called “suckage”. This team has no heart and no direction (other than down). The only reason it looked like we played a good game is because Toronto sucks too. Granted, they suck less than we do, but they still suck. We’ve earned our spot in the cellar. We belong there.
There are a couple of individual players still playing with heart. But the team has none. Maybe I should have said the team had no clear “identity” or “leader”. That would have made my point more clear.
by East of Here on Nov 6, 2009 10:03 PM EST up reply actions
Ok that makes more sense. I read “no heart” as “not caring” and I don’t think that’s the case. They care. Maybe too much in fact.
But no identity is definitely something I’ll agree with.
Forslund is talking about that. How the team just can’t find it’s identity.

I didn’t think we got 60, the second hurt us again. I’d say fair effort in the third, but the second killed us with a bad nasty softy by Ward. No points for sure, game was about like last time except maybe a little more dynamic from the Boychuck addition and line make up.
Teams got some baggage it needs to trim, we’ll see if they make the right trim choices.
A
so close? how about the fact we were up by 2?
by Andrea's evil twin on Nov 6, 2009 9:30 PM EST up reply actions

by Andrea's evil twin on Nov 6, 2009 9:37 PM EST up reply actions
Good point-but I’m not so sure they could have done anything differently. And I think that’s where their problem is. They play well and still don’t win. It’s got to eat at them.
Except maybe our Campion Wardolie. Tonight was not stellar for him.
Yeah, I think that probably what frustrates me most about tonight. They showed up for this game and it would have helped heal the team psyche in the longer term for them to have won with that kind of appearance… and for it not to happen, makes it even less likely that they’ll put out a full effort some other night, because the one night they did… Nothin’
Big fat 0 for points.

I'm waiting for the new commercial...
Losing….it’s a Caniac thing.
This team lacks stones. I have noticed we have not been able to respond to about anything all year. That’s a sign of a team. Shit happens you respond if you are winner, you crumble…well you get it.
A
I thought we responded actually. We’ve seen games when they haven’t (Boston comes to mind). Their goalie was better than ours period.
Not the way I would of liked. Responding with a death throw when tapped in the head doesn’t help much..
My .02 anyway.
A
Odd ref. to fishing. You spend the big deal on baiting and catching and then reeling in the fish only to totaly dominate it and smack it in the back of the mellon to kill it. So by the time the actual final blow is dealt the battle/sport was way over. That’s kinda where the canes are, no sport left, just a whack on the mellon and onto the fillet board.
A

We are now officially the worst team in the NHL! We’ve got the inside track on the first overall draft pick in next year’s draft, and we look like we have the talent to pull it off. Hooray!

Our FO stats weren’t that bad either. Rod was 100%. Lowest was Cullen for 42%. Team total at 60%. To me that says there was a better work ethic.
Brandon (Suttski !!) did great on FO%. He had 28 shifts. Only Corvo had more. THis is HUGE!

Funny how sometimes I/we see the game differently than they do. I remember a couple of games ago Tripp saying how they had played such a great game when we all thought how awful the play had been… and then today when at least the effort was there for most/all of the game that I watched (I assume with 2 goals in the 1st that the effort was there then – though I did watch the second but the bar is so low at this time…) Forslund complains about the lack of 60 mins…

His confidence is starting to take hits too. He looked fragile tonight too. Even John and Tripp mentioned it.
And that doesn’t inspire the team in front of him. They need to quit taking him for granted. I thought Gleason and AWard were great. I still would like to see Rodney (maybe McBain though I don’t think he’s ready) get a shot if Walling gets H1N1. Funny you mention the cookies, I was going to bring everyone cupcakes next Saturday after practice. With inspirational messages on them.

Ruutu-combination of both IMO.
Sammi-good game. Less dancing and more playmaking which I liked.
Cole-I think he really enjoyed playing with Zach. Nothing like a little squirt to keep you honest.
Did you see the shot of Zach in the lockerroom putting his skates on? I think he’s got more bulk to him than Whitney which may be an asset for us.

Oh my god. You missed the BEST part of the whole night.
They showed Sammi and John’s voice over said that they thought experience would be enough, but it wasn’t. Then they show this guy (who I didn’t recognize right away) lacing up his skates sans shirt. John’s voice over says how they hope an infusion of youth will be the difference. The mystery guy kind of looks up and I realized it was Boychuk. They then show Brandon sitting in his stall fully dressed.
Without getting too NC-17 on here, Boychuk has a baby face, but looks like a 25 year old without his shirt on.
:(
I believe depression is setting in…

Rush through it as best you can. From my point of view (in Acceptance) I really enjoyed the game. I thought there was a lot to be proud of. It was entertaining. I loved watching Boychuk looking like a sponge – did you see the expression on his face while Ronnie’s was diagramming that last PP? he was in hog heaven – it was beautiful. And Cole has found his “next Eric” in Zach, to mentor. A great thing to watch.

Did you see the look on his face during Tripp’s interview? It was a combination of frustration at being pulled away from the game and annoyance that this little man was asking stupid questions.
that particular little man always asks stupid questions – I would really have liked to have seen the look on timmy ’that’s what happens when you suck’ gleason’s face…

He kept glancing away from the camera, trying to keep his eye on what was happening on the ice. And got more and more terse as it went on. There was even a shrug at one point.
And it’s Tim “I’m going to expletive deleted you up” Gleason.
Mike Maniscalco
just commented that Gleason will make a heckuva captain – no doubt. He didn’t say of the Canes tho.
I love Gleason’s accent.

Well crap. I guess at least there is no place to go from here but up.
Farther down really isn’t an issue when you are dead last…
Man yuck.
Anyway, ya’ll take care, I’m out!

Dear Canes,
I just wanted to point out a few things to you, since you saw fit to waste my money again tonight.
First, to Erik Cole. Erik, all the flash and drive and daring drives to the goal don;t mean sh$# if you slam the puck right into the goalie’s left leg every time.
Second, Aaron. Aaron, Aaron, Aaron. What can I say? Go get a cape and a sword and move to Mexico City. Did you stude Frank KaberOle over the summer and decide to fill his spot? Did Scott Walker’s wicked right hand cause amnesia that resulted in an inability to remember how to seal off your man? Or are you just old?
Third. Cam, glove side high. GLOVE SIDE HIGH. For crying out loud. Get a bigger glove.
Fourth. Brindy, just become the conditioning coach already. THe one we have succeeds in getting the whole team hurt every year. At least in that job, you wouldnm’t be scrambling to keep up with kids half your age.
Fifth. Rutherford. You could have taken the money you wasted oin Harrison and Yelle and used it to re-sign Babchuck so we would have someone who actually shot the puck from the point occasionally. Or you could have re-signed Seidenberg. You know, a defenseman who knew that his job was to keep the puck inside the blueline when we’re on offense and outside the blueline when we’re on defense? Yeah, one of those guys.
Oh, and brilliant move keeping Sutter and Boychuck bottled up in Albany for the first 9 games of this losing streak. Brilliant. WHat a judge of talent. It’s ok. I;‘m sure you’ll appreciate them once they are 38 and have played for another team for 10 years. You’ll bring them back for too much money then.
Blow up the team. Blow it up. Trade everyone over 28 for draft picks. Fire the coaching staff. Sign the guys fromt he NCSU club team and put them on the ice for 5 bucks a game. I’d pay to watch that.
Taylor Hall
is going to look pretty sweet in Hurricane Red at the draft next year.
