Nash cutting across the crease. He started to fall and his right skate was between Wards knees and pads. It appeared his skate cut thru Ward’s left knee. Lots of blood. Cam couldn’t put any weight on the leg and was practically carried off.

I’m already lagging behind real time (watching on DVR), so am going to abandon the thread for now and pick up watching the second period during dinner.
But, before I go, let me just say for the record that I have every confidence in Leighton as our goalie.
The guy was phenomenal in the AHL. I just think he has been totally mismanaged by Maurice.

We’ve won 54% of our FO%. Jussi is the only won <50%. (that’s something new)
Canes have 10 hits to the BJ’s 8. 6 of those from our 4th line. (sounds like it should)

it reminds me so much of the 2002-2003 season…. Rod Brind’Amour snapped a friggen tendon in his hand taking a faceoff and we were horrible the rest of the year…. and then we drafted (correct me if I’m wrong) Erik Staal that summer….
Maybe JR and MO just want a really good draft pick….
Oh wait…. Don’t tell me…. We probably traded our first round draft pick in 2010 (along w/ Sammy Kapinen) to Philadelphia for Pavel Brendyl and a conditional draft pick in 2024…….

Was just discussing this with elskling…it’s ‘02-’03 all over again. And yes, we drafted Eric Staal that summer.
Last in the league that year. Lost the lottery (the year was that bad). Fleury drafted #1 by Penguins after trading up (I believe) totally faked out by JR that he just might draft (yet another) goalie.

The Shoe is Gonna Drop
I spoke to another fanatic last night after the Toronto loss and asked her if she thought Mo was going to be fired. She quickly replied that it was not Mo’s fault…it was the team’s. I thought that over and almost went for the bait, but now know that the shoe must drop on Mo. Yes…these guys are in a crisis and cannot win a game. If I were in that locker room looking down the road a few days, I would probably not see much hope for points. With this very poor effort, fragile confidence, ability to be scored on in runs, sloppy passing, failure to finish, league leading box time, a terrible progress energy power play, lapses of focus and energy, and …OH….a lost goal tender, a star center on the mend, whitney out, and a load of aging veterans. But….in every organization, the responsibility lies with leadership. JR took his hits and claims to be looking for some roster changes, but MO is the head coach. A head coach, CEO, President or whoever is in charge of any team WILL be fired for this kind of performance. There is something flawed about this team, this system, and this coaching staff. Why can Bruce Boudreo come in after an 0-8 start for the caps, or whatever the skid was, and turn a heap of underperforming talent into a winner and we cannot expect at least a lift from any change? Maybe I am way off…I just cannot see anything but the cloud looming over Mo and this team. It’s like the perfect storm. The eye of the hurricane is upon us…and it is not leaving.
Remember when we thought it was bad we lost to the Isles in a Shoot out? And then the Colorado game with Ruu’s suspension and Staal’s temper tantrum seemed as low as we could go? This is gut-wrenching stuff here. I don’t think a coaching change will happen tho. The money just doesn’t make sense.
However I could see them forfeiting the next 5 games and taking a spiritual retreat to re-build their inner cores. Something Zen-like. (yoga ?)
Or else mixed martial arts and cage fighting lessons to turn this fear and self-loathing all into controlled rage on skates. Timmy for emperor.
