Hurricanes at Senators: Game Day Preview
The Carolina Hurricanes, (7-18-6) are in Canada's Capital City to play the Ottawa Senators, (15-11-4) tonight in the final game of Carolina's four game road trip.
This will be a short preview since I am traveling today. It would not be surprising if the Canes skipped the normal pregame skate and rested up for this game. The lineup should be pretty much the same as Friday night in Washington, if Tim Gleason can go again.
Also, Paul Maurice said that he was going to start Manny Legace and give Cam Ward a break. The team does not want to over-work Ward after just coming back from injury, plus Maurice said that Legace had played well of late.
The Sens are coming off a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers but have lost five of their last seven games. Brian Elliott (unconfirmed) will probably be in net for them.
Ottawa is led by Daniel Alfredsson and Mike Fisher.
The Canes still have the worst road record in the NHL, (1-11-4) and have yet to win the back end of a back to back this year, (0-5-1). To their credit, they have been playing entertaining hockey the past several games and are still trying, even though they remain at the bottom of the league.
The game will start at 7 p.m. and once again will be televised by FS Carolinas. The Open Game Thread will start at 6:30.

Brind'Amour v. Mike Richards Comparison
I went to the link and starting to check out other players, that led me to check out Mike Richards. Accordingly, just to brighten everybody’s day. Here is a comparison of Brind’Amour and Mike Richards from Sportsnet.ca
Since Philly fans seem to be all over Mike Richards, maybe they would rather have Brind’Amour. Just thinking…

Don't forget to watch the brother-battle of the Ruutu's
Let’s imagine what little tidbits Tripp will come up with about growing up Ruutu in the land of Reindeer.

Tuomo vs. Jarkko is ALWAYS worth the watch, hope they get some ice time together.
And it didn’t dawn on me until I was listening to the Sens/Flyers on XM the other night that the Sens have picked up Jonathan Cheechoo. I always wanted to hear someone call a play from Ruutu to Cheechoo and I got my wish!
Now if they’d just pick up Jordin Tootoo…
SISU
My favorite to hear is Zidlicky and Clutterbuck, man I love saying their name.
A TRUE CANIAC......YES I AM........
Nobody seemes to have mentioned it…. Leighton to Albany. (big shock.. I know)

Check out the 3rd Post ;)
Not surprised here either, think its best for him. If he can’t (or won’t be allowed to) play here, he might as well get some minutes somewhere (maybe? will they put a hot J. Peters on the bench over Leights?…man Leights can’t catch a break can he?. We picked up Manny because he was game ready due to his AHL minutes right? Maybe if we get leights game ready we can move him in the spring easier?

I hope to see a better offensive performance tonight. We scored 3 goals last night, but had no offensive pressure. Tlusty’s was a 2 on 1 after a turnover, Staal’s was his obvious wrap chance of the game, and Gleason’s was a hard slapper breakaway after a turnover.

Good news from Albany – they’re on a 5-game winning streak shutting out the Caps’ affiliate Hershey Bears 3-0 last night.
In their fourth season as a Carolina Hurricanes affiliate, the Albany River Rats are on a road that could make this their best.
And they’re giving a lot of credit to Justin Peters. Man, we’re deep in goalies.
“Our guys did a good job of limiting his chances,” Peters said after his fifth career AHL shutout. “You’re not going to be able to take away his chances all night. Fortunately, we were able to keep him from scoring.” Peters, who recorded his fourth straight victory, lowered his goals-against average to 2.10, seventh-best in the league, and improved to 10-5-2.
“Petey, this whole year, he keeps getting better,” Rats coach Jeff Daniels said.
Gleason for the "C" :
Just what do we need to do to make this happen?
i can’t believe how good the Rats are! I love it!! Go River Rats!!!
