Results are in for Caniac Corner Cry-athon and the day is.....

It will be on December 18th starting at 6:30pm.  Come earlier if you want, it's your liver.  I see that by the previous poll it appears that the 11th has 13 votes and the 18th has 12 votes, but I was informed by Briney that he voted incorrectly and wanted to make sure his vote for the 18th was counted correctly.  That brings the 11th down to 12 and the 18th up to 13 votes.

Hell, there is still enough to go to both and I just might do that.  However, I'll only go out and get a reservation, of sorts, for about 25 or so Canes Country people for the 18th.  If anyone wants to plan the 11th, please be my guest.

The location will be at the Cary Ale House.  Note this is not the same place as the Cool Bar which is at the North Raleigh Ale House.  I was thinking about that place, combining the two events, it is just that the North Raleigh Ale House is small and has no outside bar seating.

I welcome all suggestions if you have a better place or want to combine it with the Cool Bar but I thought this would be a nice place to get the Canes Corner dysfunctional family together.  There will be plenty more Cool Bars, one is this Wednesday up in Wake Forest, and we can go to them as needed but again, this is for Canes Country folk.

Let me know what you think about it.  Also, if you thought you were going but can't, let me know sooner the better.  I will be calling up the Ale House on the 11th and making the reservations.  I would hate to make reservations for 25 or so people and have 6 show up.

Ciao

I have a bone to pick with you.....

LCD – for the next time you call in to Mike Maniscalco on the aftermath, my name is hockeymom……is it that too hard to remember? ;-)

(actually, thanks for the call out on your call in – Mike M repeated the acknowledgment with a very nice plug – well done)

Nor for the weak of stomach.

by hockeymomof2 on Dec 6, 2009 6:28 PM EST reply actions

There are so many people I wanted to say "Hi!" to and plug this place.....

I started with “The Two”, Bob and Cory and I tried to go up in alphabetical order.

After CG, I thought I would be pushing my luck.

What was nice I thought is when Mike M repeated my question to Forslund. I agree with Forslund, and CG’s description of what is going on, that Mo’s style in the 3rd is way too passive.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 6, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

I was kidding – I hope you caught that wink

And I guess I didn’t hear you say CG. Actually I thought you called out the very talented and important LTD by name. Either way – thanks for the blog mention.

;-)

Yeah, a lot of people seems to have heard LTD and not Caniagirl.

Hell, I could have called out Harry Potter for all I remember.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

Right after the Game I called into 99.9 and got online

gave a call out to Canescountry and a few people on the board.

HMO2 got all mad because I forgot who actually one of the most important people on here and I didn’t give a call out to her ;-D

I said “Hi” to Bob, Cory and Caniacgirl. It seems some thought I gave a holler to Bob, Cory and you.

I really don’t remember past Bob and Cory.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 6, 2009 8:47 PM EST up reply actions

Gimme a break. You just think CG is hotter than I am what with that tease of an avatar photo with the long blond tresses. And that’s why you think she’s so important to remember. I know – you men are all alike. Sheez,

by hockeymomof2 on Dec 6, 2009 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

Yes, we are all pigs.

:-D

But for some reason you still seem to love us. Which is a good thing.

Really, how can I know? All I’ve ever seen of CG is the back of some female with nice hair. I’ve never really seen either of you.

Besides, I like WOMEN, not little girls ;-)

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

CG needs to weigh in about now.

I know 50 year olds

who aren’t as mature as my teens.

Generally 30 is the age but there are exceptions.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 6, 2009 9:46 PM EST up reply actions

I’d like to think I’m more mature than most people my age including those in their later 20s.

by caniacgirl on Dec 6, 2009 10:21 PM EST up reply actions

Well, I'll say you are about on par

with the rest of the crew here.

So does that make you really, really mature or the rest of us, really, really immature?

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 6, 2009 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

Since I’m likely the youngest one here, that makes it a little of both.

by caniacgirl on Dec 6, 2009 10:37 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll say! How did this turn into a discussion of whether I count as a woman or not? LOL

I appreciate the comment about nice hair. I don’t appreciate the “tease of an avatar” comment. Yeah that’s right I’m looking at you HM. :D

by caniacgirl on Dec 6, 2009 10:20 PM EST up reply actions

Whew,

glad I’m off the hook.

HMO2 really tried to get me in trouble. ;-D

I like that.

Since you said you’d welcome suggestions of another location, what about Spirits Pub and Grub in Cary.

http://www.spiritscary.com/

They’ve got a section in the back that would be perfect for 20+ of us and an outdoor section, that if I remember correctly is winterized.

As long as I don’t have to do an early family Christmas gathering on the 18th I’ll be there. I’ll confirm that by the 11th.

by Cyn4Canes on Dec 7, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions

What are their beer prices like?

Another thing, myself and 2 or 3 others can get the Chili Nachos for about $10 and leave the rest of the $$$$$ for BEER!

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 7, 2009 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

I've only had their $5 Hurricanes

But here’s their beer list…

http://www.spiritscary.com/On%20Tap.html

I’m not sure how those compare to the Cary Ale House.

I only know Cyn4Canes. But then, we’re married.

We’ve met LCD once.

That’s about it…

by Raccoon Fink on Dec 8, 2009 12:07 AM EST up reply actions

Well, when I reserve a spot,

Just ask for the Canes’ Country section. I’ll be the guy with the new style Staal sweater and a paper bag over my head.

jk

But I will let the staff know to send others saying “Canes’ country”, “Where’s that mf LCD”, or whatever has Canes in it where the section is.

Hell, wear a name tag. I will.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 8, 2009 7:50 AM EST reply actions

About different spots:

Thanks Cyn4canes for your idea of a place other than the Cary Ale House.

I just want to say that unless I get a great deal of support for a different place though, I will still choose them as:

1: They are easy to get to right off 1-64 and I-40/I-440
2: People know where they are
3: Good prices on some food items.

Again, I’m not saying “NO” to any new place and I do note the alternate location Cyn4canes has a good menu , but unless more start saying that they prefer that over Cary Ale House, let’s stick with a known item. If we get several different camps of different places, the default will still be the Cary Ale House.

Next time though, we may change it.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 8, 2009 9:54 AM EST reply actions

Maybe if people are still thinking of doing both nights, we could try out Spirits on the 11th unofficially and then still go with the ol’ comfortable Ale House for the 18th…

I like the Ale House, but my biggest issue with it is that always so freakin’ packed. Perhaps Spirits is too on an away-game day, but so far it’s not been so crazy when we’ve been there before games. That and their menu is a lot more interesting. :)

by Raccoon Fink on Dec 8, 2009 11:35 AM EST up reply actions

Sounds good to me

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 8, 2009 11:47 AM EST up reply actions

Sounds good to me. Since you already have said Cary Ale House in previous postings it might be better to stick with it for this event and we can try others another time.

by Cyn4Canes on Dec 8, 2009 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

I vote spirits for the unofficial one (11th), and Cary ale house for the official one (18th).

I can’t make it on the 11th, but I plan to crash the party on the 18th. Will bring a couple of t shirts and maybe something extra for giveaways. Maybe we’ll have a raffle or two.

Thanks for setting it up and look forward to it.

I'd ask Cyn4canes or Dr. Evil

I may not be there. I’ll be pickling my liver over at Tir Na Nog at a birthday.

If I get time, I’ll show up as well and continue my downward spiral

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 9, 2009 4:16 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll definitely be at Spirits on the 11th. If the folks that are coming on the 11th let me know, I’ll call and make a reservation.

Dr. Evil is listed as DTD with migraine – will be a game-time decision…

by Andrea's evil twin on Dec 11, 2009 3:13 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

My perscription for you is to kill something

or dial up one of the Canes to do an incredibly legal and bone crushing hit on Ovenchicken or have Ovenchicken leave his feet trying to board a Canes and have them move completely out of the way letting Ovenchicken smash himself against the glass and freeing more teeth from their confines.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

by lcd2you on Dec 11, 2009 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

It's only the 9th but I think there's enough to make the reservation.

I have reserved the back outside bar area for “Canes Country” people.

They have my number and that I’m LCD2YOU.

So when you get there, ask for the Canes Country group or LCD.

When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

I totally understand. Killed many brain cells cussing out my boss and coworkers this afternoon, hence I couldn’t tell which day you were talking about.

by Cyn4Canes on Dec 9, 2009 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

Why is killing off your brain cells on stoopid people okay

but not solving the problem and killing them?

I ask myself that often… today might have been the last straw. Wish the job market wasn’t so questionable right now, I’d quit in a second.

Looking forward to it on Friday. Mrs Gillimus is going to NYC for the weekend, so I can peek in for a bit. Where exactly is the Cary Ale house?

by Gillimus on Dec 9, 2009 9:38 PM EST reply actions

Off walnut, in the smaller part of crossroads with Kohls, etc., here.

Also, FYI: this week is at Spirits Pub & Grub, next week is at Ale House.

Dec 11 - Spirits Pre-Cry-athon

From the posts it looks like there might be a handful (4 or so) showing up at Spirits tonight. Whoever gets there first just let the host/hostess know you’re with the Canes Country group so others that come in later can find you. I’ll probably get there around 6:15-6:30. There’s not a reservation since not many are coming.

by Cyn4Canes on Dec 11, 2009 11:29 AM EST reply actions

We're Here

Cyn4Canes and I are here at Spirits. We’re in the back off to the right, near the dart boards.

Round 1 of the $5 hurricanes has been ordered. We’re ready!
