no kidding – if hell does freeze over and we make the playoffs, we’ll be at the bottom of the pile and we’ll have away-ice advantage… haha

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 19, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

good point. I was thinking of that too. who needs home ice advantage

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

apparently we don’t need home ice AT ALL!

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

Gleason leads blocked shots and hits after 1

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 7:46 PM EST reply actions

somebody should tell the canes not to block shots anymore…too dangerous

by mariokohler on Feb 19, 2009 7:49 PM EST reply actions

like Mo said one of the most dangerous jobs is playing defense for the Canes

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 7:53 PM EST up reply actions

I think Cullen got the memo, it looked like he jumped over Streit’s shot on the PP goal :-)

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 7:50 PM EST reply actions

haha, i saw that, but then from the other angle it looked like it still went wide of him :P

I agree

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

i really do love babchuk’s slap shot though… it seems like he always labels them for the top shelf (granted this one was really only mid level) instead of right into a goalie’s pads.

by mariokohler on Feb 19, 2009 7:52 PM EST reply actions

He has a heavy shot too

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 7:55 PM EST reply actions

Where did MO get that tie! It’s awful!

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:00 PM EST reply actions

hahahaha amazing babbles breakaway! sadly, thats more of a move than most of the forwards for us would have made

by mariokohler on Feb 19, 2009 8:03 PM EST reply actions

he did look a little slow though!

by mariokohler on Feb 19, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions

I was just thinking we should have him center that first line…
:)

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 19, 2009 8:04 PM EST up reply actions

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

Excellent- they are one of the worst teams in hockey, and we are winning decisively going into the third. This is exactly what we should be doing if we want to make the playoffs :)

by PittsburghCaniac on Feb 19, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

I just don’t get it??? How inconsistent can you be?

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

well, the Islanders are much different than the Bruins and Mac Donald looks to be having a rough night

GM of CanesCountry.com

by Bob Wage on Feb 19, 2009 8:36 PM EST up reply actions

Would it really matter who we played? Take San Jose for instance!

Can we make some kinda deal to play in Tampa tomorrow?

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:35 PM EST reply actions

i know we have 8 of the last 10 @ home, but is there anyway we can trade some of those for road games

by briney on Feb 19, 2009 8:36 PM EST reply actions

Gleason still ahead with 3 hits

they gave Kaberle 2 hits? sometimes I wonder about these stat guys

GM of CanesCountry.com

Yeah, I though it kind of odd as well

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions

they should have a special category for kaberle….“pushes”

by briney on Feb 19, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions

Ha! that’s funny!!!

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:41 PM EST up reply actions

where do you guys get the hit stats?

by briney on Feb 19, 2009 8:42 PM EST up reply actions

I go to the event summary on the Canes homepage

by jenniwa30 on Feb 19, 2009 8:42 PM EST up reply actions

easiest way – go to canes website, look underneath the game scoreboard for ‘event summary’

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 19, 2009 8:42 PM EST up reply actions

For everyone so baffled about the inconsistency, welcome to the salary cap era NHL. You’ve got 7 or so teams at the top of the league that are consistently good, 7 or so teams at the bottom that are consistently bad, and then everybody else is right there in the middle and you have no idea what you are going to get from night to night.

Isles interloper enters

Okay, Uncle! Uncle! Please, please, take your two points — just leave us Streit and the kids. They have sentimental value.

Not great, I don’t think. Nothing’s been proposed, but sounds like he’s not looking to waive his NTC, and I doubt an offer comes up that makes them bring it up.

Weight was our deadline carrot, but he had to hurt his MCL.

Empty net goal for Chicago to go up 3-0 with 4 minutes to go. This one appears to be over and it couldn’t have been a better night for Carolina. Why is it that every time we lose all the teams we need to lose win, but when we win they all lose?
