Hurricanes Newsstand — Feb. 26

It seems every game right now is big, but tonight's game at the RBC Center against rival and No. 8 seed Buffalo is huge. The Hurricanes are coming off a disappointing loss to Ottawa Tuesday, while the Sabres are wondering if they'll have to go with their No. 3 goalie. Check out Die By The Blade for a Buffalo perspective. In the AHL, the River Rats returned to action for the first time since their scary bus accident, getting a 3-2 shootout win at Brideport. Also some trade deadline news, including one comical scenario involving Erik Cole.

The following from a great source, and also was mentioned apparently on Sportsnet Hockey Central….The Carolina Hurricanes are trying to get Erik Cole back and are apparently offering up one of my favorite players Tuomo Ruutu in return…

- Dwayne Kessel

What a piece of crap he is.

I really didn’t even want to include it … but it’s too funny not to. Why would the Canes trade an impending RFA for a player who’s having a lesser season and will be UFA at season’s end?

Thanks for giving me a laugh this morning…lol

I wonder if Kessel really thinks Jim Rutherford is foolish enough to even think about making that trade. It makes you wonder about his thought process.

It goes really well with his last Cole rumor that had him going to Pittsburgh. No tension there or anything…

Makes about as much sense as that nightmare I had the other night – Gleason and Ruu for Tkachuk…
But that one I knew was just a nightmare. I hate trade rumors, because you know stupider trades than that have been made in the past… Ugh! I hate this time of year!

Sabre's Goalies

What a huge opportunity we have to light up our friends from Buffalo tonight. Let’s hope our boys come out hard!

Still not a crook!

Ugh….. I wouldn’t give them Ryan Bayda for Cole at this point…. he just isn’t the same player…..
