Pens Send Whitney to Ducks For Kunitz, Tangradi

Wow ... this trade is going to getting things moving. You have to figure one of Chris Pronger or Scott Niedermayer is on the move now, plus the Pens can't think Chris Kunitz solves all their problems up front, and moving Ryan Whitney without taking on a ton of salary gives them the room to do more. Thoughts?

I'm sure PensBurgh and Battle of California will have more on this in the near future.

However, if this is it, I would not be happy as a pens fan. Kunitz is a good player, but Whitney seems a bit much to give, even if it is a partial salary dump as well. Really do you put all your eggs in the Sergei Gonchar basket? It will be interesting to see this play out. Or as the artist formally known as Dwayne Klessel would say " Dominoes are falling!"

By the way, the salaries are about the same (and both with multiple years left). So I’m pretty surprised by the Pens doing this

I wish we could have been in the running

I know I must seem like a doom and gloom type guy when it comes to our D. Whitney is a very good up and comming talent that will be comming into his own in the next year or two. I would have traded them a Matt Cullen and something eles for a guy like Whitney. He will be a main stay for the D for many years to come. Ive been very high on this guy for a couple years now. This is just my opinion, but that is why I watch from the stands and not the owners suite.
