Will newbie Jussi Jokinen have an immediate impact?  Will he make it to the game on time?  I wouldn't expect a police escort to the arena like countryman Tuomo Ruutu received in Raleigh.

Nothing works for ‘evil’ people today, apparently! My kitchen sink leaks, it rusted through my turkey pan, and my oven is set for 300, but is actually 450 (needless to say my dessert is a little on the done side!)
bad times for evil people….

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 9:55 PM EST reply actions

The Canes have Jokinen centering LaRose and Eaves and Sutter is back on the fourth line with Petruzlek and Bayda. But Jokinen is listed as a LW. He must have had some experience at center at some point

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 9:59 PM EST reply actions

Why the end of the game?

I thought the Canes had an exclusive contract that they wouldn’t be deferred for basketball, even if it was the end of a game?

it reminded me of a Mario move, the way he took the puck from right to left so quickly and shot in such a smooth motion. Mario’s hands were so fast it was hard to follow the puck

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 10:52 PM EST reply actions

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 7, 2009 10:56 PM EST up reply actions

and I would have to say that the Tverdovsky deal was worse than Melichar. Melichar was just a million for one year, Tverdovsky was 2.5 million for three years each

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 10:56 PM EST reply actions

yeah tverdovsky was much worse, I don’t know what he saw in melichar, if he wanted to go that route, vaananen would have been a much better option he got the same deal and has been useful for philly

by Lrccolt4 on Feb 7, 2009 11:00 PM EST up reply actions

yeah the price is kinda steep , I mean puckdaddy was pretty close in describing him as a healthy scratch who is wicked good at the shootout!

Jokinen and Pitkanen jawing

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 7, 2009 11:15 PM EST reply actions

Pitkanen and olli Jokinen don’t seem to like each other

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:15 PM EST reply actions

they were yakking in the first period as well

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:16 PM EST reply actions

Ollie Jokinen is garbage, I really think he could be a locker room poison too.

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:16 PM EST reply actions

Rodney’s played well .. but I dunno how much more of a crush Tripp and JF could have one him. He’s been above average .. but not more than a bottom pairing guy.

The Panthers aren’t complaining he’s gone and are playing better

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:17 PM EST reply actions

We need to play phoenix more often

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:17 PM EST reply actions

I’m surprised the yotes haven’t turned up the chippiness

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:19 PM EST reply actions

you could argue this is the best game Samsonov and Ruutu have had as Canes

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 7, 2009 11:20 PM EST reply actions

i dont even think it is an argument in samsonov’s case

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:21 PM EST reply actions

oo that was almost 7

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:22 PM EST reply actions

i think they are too scared to get real chippy carcillo is out of the game now

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:24 PM EST reply actions

wouldn’t it be something if Jussi Jokinen turned into another Samsonov? garbage for one team, golden for the Canes

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:25 PM EST reply actions

it was like a week ago that PHX was up to 5th in the west … now they’re 13th

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:26 PM EST reply actions

Gleason needs to give sutter some lessons, but good for him!

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:26 PM EST reply actions

i dunno, john and tripp were kind in the earlier fight, TImmy was mostly blocking punches with his faces!

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

he sure has moxie for a rookie

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:27 PM EST reply actions

can u imagine what he is going to be like when he fills out…..scary

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

dunno why guys leave their feet when checking … you can tell who the good guys are out here based on how they hit … Sutter and Brindy always hold up if a guys facing the boards

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 7, 2009 11:27 PM EST reply actions

Think how much “moxie” he’d have if he’d have more than 5 min. TOI

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:28 PM EST reply actions

not much of a crosscheck there

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:30 PM EST reply actions

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 7, 2009 11:34 PM EST up reply actions

this is the kind of game we have been needing, I think we can build on the last 2 for sure

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:35 PM EST reply actions

this was our first non-nervous win in forever

by Lrccolt4 on Feb 7, 2009 11:36 PM EST reply actions

That’s funny I was just thinkin the same thing!

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:37 PM EST up reply actions

Brind’Amour has not played the past 2 games, and the team has looked great. coincidence?

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:37 PM EST reply actions

yes and no
I think the team has found some spark, but at the same time, Rod’s plus/minus is really telling (read he would have cost us a goal or two, so we would have lost to SJ, but it wouldn’t have mattered tonight – except that it might have changed the dynamics of the game if that goal had come early…)
so maybe my long answer really is a “no coincidence”…

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 7, 2009 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

you put some intense thought into that answer..:-)

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:43 PM EST up reply actions

i think had the philly game ended like this, instead of the major breakdown, this team would be battling with Washington for the division lead. You need some confidence building every now and then

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:38 PM EST reply actions

will be interesting to see who has to sit when Walker and Brindy get healthy and what happens with the mojo

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:38 PM EST reply actions

scary thought Bubba, smells like last years garbage, huh

by wylde4canes on Feb 7, 2009 11:39 PM EST reply actions

wow ….. Nucks up 6-0 in the 2nd on CHI

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey

I bet no one guessed 7-2 on score.

by canescup on Feb 7, 2009 11:40 PM EST reply actions

I guessed that for the sharks game – I was off by 2 days…

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 7, 2009 11:43 PM EST up reply actions

bet you’re right

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:41 PM EST reply actions

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:44 PM EST reply actions

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:45 PM EST reply actions

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

65% on faceoffs with Jokinen tearing it up, 13 of 16 for 81% holy smokes

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:45 PM EST reply actions

was Olli around 3 for 16? lol

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey

by Cory Lavalette on Feb 7, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

So does that mean we can leave rod in the press box?

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 7, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

when he’s healthy, I mean

by Andrea's evil twin on Feb 7, 2009 11:47 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think that’ll happen

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

Mo will have to make that tough call.

If Brindy was 100% healthy, he might not be such a liability

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

olli was 9 for 18, but he was the best

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:47 PM EST reply actions

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:50 PM EST reply actions

but still nice to get these points on the road

by Bob Wage on Feb 7, 2009 11:51 PM EST reply actions

Corvo led the team with 6 blocks

Gleason, Eaves, and Wallin all tied with 4 hits each, no Ruutu!

I thought he’d see alot more ice time with Brindy out.

by jenniwa30 on Feb 7, 2009 11:55 PM EST up reply actions

porlly would’ve seen a lot in the final 5 … but he was in the lockerroom getting showered thanks to his late fight

CanesCountry.com: An Eye On Carolina Hockey
