McBain A Hobey Baker Finalist, WCHA Player Of The Year
Wisconsin junior defenseman and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Jamie McBain is piling up the honors. Not only did McBain earn conference player of the year and first-team honors at the WCHA Final Five Awards Banquet, he also found out he was one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given annually to college hockey's top player.

This is great news. So does Carolina lose his rights if he ends up coming back for his senior year at UW? Hopefully go ahead and win the dern tootin award this year and join the Rats this fall.

I think this is the right clause in the CBA on this:
If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft, and remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive right of negotiation for his services through and including the August 15 following the graduation of his college class. The Club need not make a Bona Fide Offer to such Player to retain such rights.
