Hurricanes Newsstand — April 16

It's hard to know if the Hurricanes should take Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series and toss it in the trash, chalking it up to first-game jitters, or watch it one more time and use it to understand what it takes to win in the postseason.

Either way, Carolina will need to refocus heading into tomorrow's Game 2 or face a 2-0 series deficit when they come back to Raleigh for the series' third matchup.

In the CHL, Mike Murphy and the Belleville Bulls dropped Game 1 of the OHL's Eastern Conference Finals to Brampton.

By the way, Bubba and I were lucky enough to be approached by the Web site for a small paper called The New York Times. Maybe you've heard of it. Anyway, we did a very small questionnaire for them and the link is here.

congrats on the ny times (even though i hate that ppaer with a passion)
but thats a big deal.

any reason why you chose not to include your last name, bubba?

Good question Chris, I didn’t even realize anyone was using their full name until seeing your comment. If they would have asked I would have given it, but it seems like they just used everyone’s auto-signature from their emails.

i only ask because i read an article recently about “how to tell if your blogger is legit”
which obviously isnt an issue here, (given that this is the best team blog in the nhl)
but i just thought it would be an interesting read.

well one of his criteria was the name used by the blogger,
talkign about nickname versus full name,

anyway when i saw the times article it just jumped back into my head.
so i thought id ask.

thanks for sharing. I may reconsider using my pseudonym. The blog has certainly grown much more than I originally imagined it would. :-)

The Takeaway

I think the real takeaway is that the Canes were riding the most unrealistic wave of hype around.

What hype would that be?
