OK OK OK he called us goobers (sp). I agree that it was stupid to put up such a message. Who here is not pissed at the ingame staff for doing it?? Someone completely forgot to think. I don’t think he should have called us goobers (i agree with who basically said WTF is a goober,lol). I dont even think he should have mentioned it. but more importantly
WHEN THE (F) DID WE START PLAYING ON NC STATE’S CAMPUS??
The RBC Center is partially owned by NC State and it is right next to NC State’s football stadium. I guess, it technically isn’t on campus but it might as well be.

No, I have never been there. The RBC Center is one of NC State’s athletic facilities (which was partially fonded with money from NC State) and it is right next to the football stadium, so I can see why he would make that mistake.

There is a good “history” section…. it isn’t very interesting…. but it does explain NC State Universities involvement as well as the Carolina Hurricanes/ Heartford Whalers involvement w/ the RBC Center (then called the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena).
I guess I could see how if someone was not familiar w/ the area or the arena how that would be an easy mistake….
Such a mistake does however give the impression that the Hurricanes organization is too po-dunk to get it’s own arena… which was not the case…. if the Hurricanes didn’t come to town then the NC State Wolfpack would still be playing in Reynolds…..

Despite all the game 5 and prior shenanigans on both sides, I thought game 6 was a well skated, well called game. We lost because of a poor start and defensive breakdowns. So be it. And let’s be honest, a little enmity makes for a more interesting series on both sides. I am looking forward to a great game 7 and I hope it goes down to the wire no matter who wins.
With that said, the ongoing cheap shot that we in the south don’t deserve and are too stupid and illiterate to belong to the hockey club is growing old. It doesn’t adequately reflect the area, the tremendous outside influence of those that have moved into our community, and the area’s embracing of our team. More importantly, any sports writer that resorts to using such a pedestrian cliche is really showing their own poor writing skills and intelligence.

This has been a fun/weird series. Having the Boston peeps over here discussing things has been fun too. More fun than NJ. Hurricane Cheryl is the only person who is obnoxious, and she clearly has no clue what she is talking about.

I guess the whole thing with the NC State Campus bit that ticked me off, is the fact that we are constantly stereotyped and no one seems to be willing to do the leg work to find out if they are true. Im not saying that he should have done his research. I’m saying if you dont know just dont say anything at all.
The media is where people form their opinions. If you read that and knew nothing of Raleigh you would think it fits right in line with the College BBall Hoopla. You would also think that Raleigh was the Mecca of Nascar if you read anyone of ten other writers.
We all know this but… Raleigh is one of if not the most diverse cities in the south east. I think that that is over looked by those who wonder why they “put a hockey club in ‘Mayberry’”
