Hurricanes Newsstand — May 4

After Game 1, the prevailing opinion was that the Bruins were too much for the Hurricanes. But with their dominant win in Game 2 in Boston, Carolina has stolen home-ice advantage and has everyone rethinking where this series may go.

Cam Ward outdueled Tim Thomas, Eric Staal won Round 2 against Zdeno Chara and the Canes missing scorers showed up in the form of Matt Cullen and Joe Corvo.

1) Very solid effort last night. The Bruins may have to slow down their parade planning and begin to realize that they are in for a tough series. These aren’t the hapless Habs

“In fact, Sunday’s game between the Bruins and Hurricanes looked an awful lot like a microcosm of the Hurricanes playoff tournament so far this season. They are, without a doubt, the cockroaches of the 2009 post-season because they simply will not die. You would have been excused for thinking the Hurricanes had hit reality head-on after their limp effort in Game 1, but there they were in Game 2, winning almost all the 1-on-1 battles, almost all the races to the pucks, playing inspired hockey and getting a gargantuan performance in goal from Cam Ward, particularly in the third period when the Bruins outshot the Hurricanes 16-3.”

Rosie is earning himself a lot of money next year.

I really hope we’re able to work the books and keep him next year, he has had just an amazing year this year. By far my favorite Cane. Go Rosie!!

Not that this should be taken too seriously, but Rosie’s wife is a friend of a friend. They apparently really want to stay in Raleigh.

I heard that NHL players wanting to stay in Raleigh from their time in the ’Canes is known to be an occupational hazard.

It seems that several hockey players like living in Raleigh. Even Aaron Ward and his family live in Cary.

I remember reading where Wallin was asked if he’d waive his trade clause. He responded no and that his family really likes it here.

puck daddy article is so good.
its so nice to hear that kind of writing from non partisan media.

Yup

Reading the headlines and in many cases the body of the article itself one would think that the ‘Canes won a 1-0 game with Ward standing on his head as he was pelted with 50+ SOG and at least 45 were good scoring chances and the score by the ’Canes was only due to the refs penalizing the Bs for some ticky-tacky calls and into a 5-3 in Carolina’s favor and all the the Bs defenders twigs broke during the PK.
