Casey Borer to have Surgery on Monday
We finally found some more information about Casey Borer, the young defenseman who suffered a broken neck in the Albany bus crash last season. He expects to have surgery on Monday.
"I'm not too thrilled," said Borer, who wore a neck collar last spring while rehabilitating after the accident. "I thought I was done (with rehabilitation) after I left Albany."
He got a second opinion from the Mayo Clinic and felt confident to resume, even though he said his neck didn't feel right.
"Sometimes it was making noises when I'd turn my head," he said.
The Hurricanes, who'd signed Borer to a one-year contract for this season, requested a new set of X-rays before camp. He sent them the ones from the Mayo. That's when he got the call short-circuiting his return. After the surgery, he'll wear a halo to stabilize his neck for a month.

Good find – a story from Saint-Cloud. Hopefully this will be the end of this chapter and he can get back to hockey. Tough thing. Hope he gets some encouragement from the Canes team and management to keep the faith and that the effort will be worth it.
Let's go Canes!
