Checkers are playing in Portland (Kevin Dineen is the head coach there, affiliate of Sabres) this afternoon (1pm start). Getting toward the end of the first down 1-0. You can listen to the radio streaming here: http://ahl.neulion.com/ahl/console.jsp?team=CHA.
you may need to click on the play button next to the game description – you can also watch for a fee.
Sanguinetti and Carson are there, with Boychuk and the rest. SOG is 9-2, Charlotte up. Pogge in goal for his first start since the preseason game vs…. Nashville? in the preseason.

Great fun listening to the game during a very late lunch at the office.
Nice interview with Murphy during the second intermission, with props thrown Pogge’s way by both Murphy and interviewer (“was with him in the elevator, and he looks like a football player…he’s huge!” – interviewer)

Wow, 5-0 Portland midway through the 3rd.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.
Remember we’re still holding Dalpe, Bowman, and Dwyer (plus O’Sullivan).
Two of that crowd will probably join the Checker’s roster soon…but that doesn’t explain the results today.
Shots are currently 40-25 Charlotte’s way, so hopefully it’s just “hot goalie”.

And Tlusty for his conditioning stint I’m sure we’ll be there Friday.
I think some of it was 3-in3 this weekend. And Pogge forgot he had AHL level Dmen in front of him. Also Kevin Dineen was the opposing coach. I’m sure he had his guys ready – they hadn’t played since Saturday.

Also Kevin Dineen was the opposing coach.
One of the few old Canes I’d love to have in the system. Not sure where he fits, but he’s a great hockey guy to have work for you.
Don't trust me. I have psychological issues.
I meant to look up if he and Jeff Daniels ever played together…

Dineen and Daniels
That is a great question, so I did compare their playing careers: Kevin Dineen and Jeff Daniels.
Although contemporaries and certainly in a position to have played against one another (Flyers/Penguins in ‘93-’94, for instance), their only common team experience appears to have been the Hartford Whalers during the ‘96-’97 season (Hartford’s last) and the Carolina Hurricanes during the ‘97-’98 season (Carolina’s first).
However, Jeff only had 10 NHL games during the ‘96-’97 season, although he was in the Whaler system at the time, playing for the AHL’s Springfield Falcons (coached by Kevin McCarthy) that season.
Similarly, he only had 2 NHL games during the ‘97-’98 season, playing then for the AHL’s New Haven Beast (also coached by Kevin McCarthy).

it seems that the
“influx” of new players coming in may have “upset” the free flowing form of “continuity” to where many of the same players who busted their chops to make the canes can’t seem to get it together…i wonder if the Checkers have a Capt.Stinky type and are starting to chant Daniels must go yet ? i thank one & all and HM2
Everytime you write off the Hurricanes,
They make You Look Bad!!
