Longtime fan, but new to CanesCountry. I've been a fan of the Canes since they moved to the great state of North Carolina in 1997 and have been to many memorable games over the years, including Game 7 of the SCF and Jussi's goal with no time remaining vs. NJD two years ago. Just thought I'd share my experience at the game last night vs the L.A. Kings.Fun game to go to, sucks the Canes lost though.
The defense looked like they had taken shots of Ny-quil before the game, especially Corvo, he looked completely dead out there. He was painful to watch. Granted, the Canes were 24 hours off their last game and the Kings hadn't played since Friday (so they were fresh), nevertheless the offense was decent but the defense looked shot.
My friends and I yelled out "JU-SSI" during the national anthem and the fans around us thought it was pretty funny. The fans in my section were nice for the most part, except for a guy two rows behind me who started chants nobody went along with and whistled THE ENTIRE GAME. It really annoyed not only us, but the Kings fans in my section. That and he was one of those fans who yelled about the game when it was clearly obvious he had no idea what he was talking about. He'd yell things like "Puck Control" and scream at the refs even during obvious penalties. It was entertaining to say the least.
Also, some kid told me and my friends after the second goal to "Go back to Canada." I can't wait to fly home for Christmas and see my family in North Carolina, which is apparently located in Canada. Really thought we would put the tying goal in during the third period, we shelled them but the shots just wouldn't go. I'm excited I got to see Jeff Skinner's first regulation NHL goal, he's been a heck of a player in the couple of games he's played.
Nobody really gave us crap on the way out except for few losers, to which we responded with the unstoppable comeback of "Stanley Cup." That shut them up.
Overall, it was a fun game.
