Charlotte Checkers challenge their fans to a Teddy Bear Toss
The Bears are coming to North Carolina this weekend
The Checkers are challenging each and every fan at Friday's game to bring a stuffed animal (wrapped in clear plastic) to throw on the ice. Each year, approximately 3,000 kids go through Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital and we want to ensure every one of those children gets a bear this year. The bears will be delivered by Checkers players to Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital during the holidays.
Here's a link to learn more and see a video of how this works in Hershey PA, where tomorrow's opponents hosted a similar event last season.
Looks like a great time to show your stuff, Carolina hockey fans.

Game
I went to my first Checkers game since years ago last night. Pretty good showing by the fans (they close the top section of the stadium). Not a real lively crowd until the late moments of the game and OT though. Team was been very outplayed by Hershey Bears but took a 1-1 tie into the OT period. Lost 2-1 in a shootout but a pretty fun night in the end. Holtby, Hershey’s goalie, is very good and I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him in the NHL soon.
