Calm down guys. I’ll be happy with 2-1. Let’s not get cocky here. They had a long flight, they’ve got only 11 forwards. There’s the trade and Team USA distractions. It’s late at night by their body clocks, etc. Let’s not expect the world here.

Actually, Bob needs to get an instigator. He made the snarky comment about it in his preview and then let us fight his battles. Kind of how Walker and AWard described Cullen at the beginning of the season.

the value of the franchise when Karmanos first bought it was $49 million. The Forbes estimate today is almost $200 million.

According to Bob…Joni Pitkanen has to answer some critics, or so the open headline reads…personaly Joni Pitkanen don’t have to answer to anyone from any where except to the Coaching staff and his team mates on Hurricanes bench…now i have NOT read that 197 commented on article and to be honest…I think I’ll pass…why ? Buy the wording the author used, it implies the as a bonified NHL D man…he has to prove something to others…i feel that the author (BW) by using his editorial license in the manner he has gives that impression..again and while i have NOT read that " game day" preview article…the title as it was worded and posted offended me…but in my 60 plus years on this planet I know i have offended many folks as well …according to some …when i wake up each day…but I’m a fan, what would i know about writing a captivation article on or about Hockey…Go Canes !!

Don’t be. People were told not to come out. I know several people who tried to make it but couldn’t. Don’t know if you got to see the replay on DVR, we were actually LOUD.

I did think it was loud for 7000 fans but I new the rest of the league would jump all over a little ice keeping fans home. I was hoping the fans would all show up and the media would have gone the other direction.

I have a fellow hockey mom recently moved to CH from Boston/ Chicago who was going to take my 12 yr old to hockey practice tonight. She decided at 5pm not to go because she was concerned about black ice on the drive home. Then on her facebook page she makes fun of southerners shutting down the state. Northerners love to make fun of it, but my kid missed hockey practice cause she was worried about the roads. go figure..

Apparently Corvo was ready but he can’t be activated until Carson is returned to the NHL because Carson was an emergency call-up when he came up earlier in the season.

I meant Carson returned to the AHL. And ChuckandtheletterK was my source, just said it a couple of minutes ago. Apparently because Carson was an emergency call-up for Corvo, he has to be returned when Corvo is activated, or something along those lines.

We need to check sometime to see if Carson is perhaps subject to waivers when he’s called up and sent down.
The emergency call-up rule allows roster sizes to be temporarily exceeded, but it also allows the waiver exposure to be bypassed for the call-up.
Carson may have been under contract long enough to be exposed.
I don’t know the details, but he is definitely exposed to waivers in some of the scenarios where he’s sent back down.

no way. you have to challenge while blocking the lane, you dont blcok a shot from 5 feet away unless you are forced. he was skating backwards
Cogliano is stupid fast. If someone like AWard challenges him way out there, he puts a move on and makes AWard look silly. Within his own limitations, AWard played that right — only challenge as Cogliano gets closer and has less room to outmaneuver you.
Pitkanen needed to pick one shooter and stop him, leave the other to Cam. Instead he left them both wide-open.

Great goalie, with occasional lapses. Weak glove side high, and a tendency to leave his 5 hole open. Not that he sucks, just that he has stuff to improve on to become elite.

It at least helps the tiebreaker. I think JR needs to make a move to get our team moving again. Of course we had some great games with Staal at the helm. I’m going to chock this one up to travel and move on. We’re still 28th (Toronto and Edmonton are behind us), and there’s a pretty good gap until you hit CBJ. I wonder if there’s going to be some wheeling and dealing on draft day between the GMs.
