Been listening to the news on Nic and seeing the tweets on my drive up here. Last I heard was that it would be officially announced after the game?
This is a real bummer for me, I get the why but I like the Secret Weapon and he’s always been a Cane and he has such a great history and I will miss him.
That being said, I guess it’s time to say GO CANES!

Sutter vs. Sutter
I always enjoy watching Brandon Sutter playing against his dad. It seems to me like his dad (Brent Sutter) literally tells his team (NJ last year and Calgary now) that if anyone lays a big hit on his son, pack your bags.
I remember last year playing NJ and a big fight broke out when Sutter was on the ice. He didn’t even get touched. I could imagine the Devils out there brushing off Brandon’s shoulder and saying “I apologize Mr. Sutter, is there anything I can do for you?”

And he isn’t particularly creative offensively either. He pretty much has one tool, a booming slapshot. That’s about it. Defensively, I’d trust Huskins and Leach over him. Russell I like. Other possibilities are Gleason and Corvo. (If we could get Gleason for Ferriero/Zalewski+2nd+Groulx/Braun+Huskins for salary, I would be very pleased.)

we are looking like the Canes of the MOST of this season:
- passing is off by a half of a second
- turnovers are plenty
- taking bad penalties
- not getting bounces
- other team gets the bounces
- Mo wringing his hands and gritting is teeth

Wallin to SJ...
Just an educated guess, but it’s likely a 3rd or 4th for Wallin, which isn’t terrible, but he’s a reliable, steady defenseman and we’re dealing him for a young guy who probably doesn’t reach our radar for 3-4 years.
I think we have enough depth though to not need a body back in this deal. Wonder how long now it will be for others, like Wallin and maybe Corvo or Cullen.

C’mon….Joni has taken 4 shots directly at guys tonight and looks as disinterested in the game as ever…why do we have to play this guy 30 minutes a game?
Yeah, but this has been an ongoing thing all year. Everyone seems to love this guy, but he’s a turnover machine and seems to always be out of position in his own end. I’d rather see the Rats up here struggling to find their game than watch Joni shooting it 5 feet wide and taking stupid penalties every night.

I see why they are trying so hard to get our AHL team closer to Raleigh.

Watching that play, I think Pits stunned Staal with his decision to step up on the play. The goal falls on Staal, but Pits (as a defenseman) put Eric in a bad position.

I noticed on my computer that this site works much, much better in Mozilla. When I used to use IE any post that got over 50 comments long took forever to refresh. Now I can unmark all of the comments at once in just a second.

haha, yea I hear ya. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve been trying to deal with the maximum games played thing and I slipped a lot in the standings, but I’m charging back hard!

Absolutely. I have been holding back players to make sure that I have the chance to start the best when it counts. It is a LOT OF LUCK!!!
At the same point, it has really forced me to learn more about the sport. I didnt grow up a hockey player/ fan like most people that follow the NHL, I became a fan after watching the hurricanes play live for 10 bucks while I sat in the upper deck of the RBC, fell in love with the game at an older age than most!!! SOOO, there is a lot for me to learn about the sport than you, and being part of this really helps me learn about numerous players, its really cool!
And, my brother in law has played hockey since he was a kid, so sometime soon I am gonna throw on some skates and try it for myself…..I just hope that I dont have to go to the ER afterwards!!!! LOL!!!
