I have my Tripp bingo card printed as well, but he is so difficult to listen to and actually hear over my teeth grinding. Going to be hard to play :P
I swear if he starts into some long winded rambling non related to hockey talking point, while there is intense action on the ice again I think I may leap through my TV to strangle him.

I really would like to see a Boychuk/Jokinen/Ruutu line at some point; but the way Whitney/Staal/Jokinen can dominate other teams, it is hard to envision splittingup Staal/Jokinen. I could envision next season a major talent, franchise player on the wing with Staal/Jokinen and then Whitney/Sutter/Ruutu on the second line; with Boychuk/Tlusty/Cole on the third line and LaRose [or Osala]/Dwyer/Kostopoulos on the fourth line — assuming there is some movement of some players during the summer.

Why are you so down on LaRose? When he is healthy, he has played pretty well. I love his team first mentality and he creates opportunities when on the ice. He’s not 1st line material, but IMO he should be getting top 9 minutes. At the present time, I would put him on the 3rd line over Tlusty and Cole.

I really like LaRose and think he has been excellent for the Hurricanes. I have tremendous respect for LaRose. I am trying to put my personal bias which is so strongly in favor of LaRose aside and then looking at the combination of size, speed, hand skills, skating skills, and hockey intelligence. LaRose is an over-achiever and that is a critical element on every successful team. Over-achievers drive teams at times when the elite, talented athletes may tend to resort to reliance on their pure athletic skills.
All that being said, given the tremendous talent coming to the team next season, I think LaRose is going to need to have a stellar year to stay at Carolina. I really, really hope he does. I am strongly in favor of rolling four lines and wearing out opponents. LaRose offers intangibles beyond his particular skill sets. If the Hurricanes keep Cole, I would play him over LaRose on the third line because Cole’s size and speed are not duplicated by other players. I would hesitate to play Boychuk/Tlusty/LaRose because I prefer a pure power forward on each line. When one factors in LaRose’s $1.9 million salary, he has to score 20 goals a season to justify his salary expense. I also realize LaRose has been hurt all this year and is gutting it through. I would be thrilled and delighted if LaRose returned to 20 goals a season form. I hope he can.
Perfect, as soon as I get back into radio range Staal scores a goal.

Canes Country - you have let me down
Unless I missed it during my quick scroll through of the posts here when I got home from the game…
I cannot believe we had a PETERS and a JOHNSON on the ice tonight and not one phallic reference, dick joke, nothing…. :0)
Had a blast at the game. Almost better was listening to Forslund on the drive home when a young boy called in to say he had just been to his 2nd Hurricanes game and he can’t wait to go to more. He was so polite – kept saying “Yes sir”. This was just heart-warming to me that even after the topsy-turvy year the ’Canes have had, they can still grow the fan base.
