Caniacs in Finland: An Update

Several folks have been asking about ticket packages and other logistics concerning the games in Finland in October.  I received the following email update today.  Exciting stuff!

Dear LTD,

While details have not been finalized, we can now guarantee you that ticket/travel packages will be available to Season Ticket Holders for the Compuware/NHL Premiere Helsinki - the Hurricanes' 2010-11 regular season, 2-game opening set in Helsinki, Finland.

Packages will include game tickets and exclusive access to team events, such as team practices and player meet & greets, as well as local tours, round trip transport to events, airport transfers, on-site staff for assistance, and more.  Both packages with airfare included and land-only packages will be made available.

Though tickets will officially go on sale to the public on Monday, March 15, we assure you that the Hurricanes will have access to an allotment of tickets large enough to satisfy STH requests.

We anticipate that the details of these packages will be finalized within the next 10-14 days, and we will communicate the details of these packages as soon as they are available.

We appreciate your support!

Go 'Canes!!

Well, unfortunately Rosetta Stone doesn’t offer Finnish in their solutions :-(

That being said, if you tune in to Canes Country during the off-season, I have a feeling there will be some learning opportunities for all things Finnish before the trip.

FYI, I’m working on a public Facebook group for anyone interested in staying in touch about the event. Will try to keep it updated with news, links, and discussion items as details roll out.

First time posting here, just joined and I’m from Finland… That package sounds exciting! Hopefully we get lots of Caniacs to Finland in October!
I just bought two tickets for October 8th, not the best seats in the house, but all I could afford right now. I’m really looking forward to my first NHL game, and to see my favourite team, Carolina and of course all of our boys: Ruutu, Pitkänen, Jokinen, Koivu, Bäckström and Miettinen!

Welcome! It’s definitely a treat watching the Finns play. Can’t wait until October! Hopefully we can had Oscala to that list soon.

Thanks! So, who’s coming to Finland? This package sounds very cool, very all inclusive and very pricey..

I bought two tickets for the game today as soon as they started selling them, paid about 100 euros (about 136 dollars) per ticket and they were the cheapest ones in the bunch!

Going to Finland

My wife and I are definitely going. Ruutu, Jokinen, and Pitkanen have been tremendous for the Hurricanes and we want to support them in their home Country — and particularly to demonstrate to their Finnish fans that the Caniacs really admire those guys. I was at the Casino night deal they have last night and briefly spoke with Jussi Jokinen. He seemed very excited that there might be a large contingent of Caniacs going to Finland.

Also, I really hope Osala will be able to participate as well. The consensus I hear is that as soon as he masters increased quickness for his first and second stride, he will be a beast. I hope he finds the world’s best power skating coach for the off-season because he is more than strong enough and athletic enough to have quick acceleration.

+1

I also told Jussi we’d be bringing a crowd to Finland. He got that look in his eye kind of like the first time they saw Caniacs at the airport welcoming them home from a playoff game. I hope it’s special for them that they have such a following.

I told Tuomo that I expected the “player meet & greet” to take place at the saunas. He agreed with me! :D

I do think that to a person the Finns think what they have here is very special.

That’s a good idea :) And if you go to sauna here in Finland, it’s mandatory to be naked :)

Don’t tell Tripp that.

I think, but as always I could be wrong, that the Hurricanes have some block seats already purchased or at least on hold. I keep bugging my account rep (who is awesome) and there is no word yet on the travel package details. We are being assured there will be some travel packages for Caniacs.
