Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Classy Canes

Hello All - happy game day.  I read this letter this morning in The Hockey News and wanted to share.  (I almost threw the darn magazine away because Crosby and GOLD are on the cover - bleh!)  anyway, in the letters section there is a letter from an Islanders fan about the Canes.  Seems the Islanders at every home game, during a TV timeout, welcome back a local veteran who has served in the armed forces.  The players all stand and bang their sticks on the boards for this in appreciation.  Most visiting teams do not participate - maybe a few here and there, however OUR ENTIRE TEAM stood for the entire segment, with even the coaches applauding.  This fan wrote it was a classy display by the Hurricanes.  This is the second letter I have read this season in there from another teams fan about how awesome our entire organization and fanbase are.  WE know how amazing we are, but it's nice to get some love from the outside.

Have a great day everyone and GO CANES!

That’s awesome!

We really do seem to have a classy bunch here, and I feel like the organization encourages that kind of “keeping it real” around here. A little bit of southern charm, I guess. :)

Thanks for sharing.

The classy demeanor starts with JR and trickles it’s way down.

Brind'Amour and Classy Behavior

I have been known to discuss Brind’Amour’s play on the ice with less than overwhelming enthusiasm for the play; but I think Brind[‘Amour does set a standard for being a classy ambassador for the organization. Among other things, I greatly appreciated his positive comments about the Caniacs sticking with the team this year. Brind’Amour does set an excellent example to the younger players of how a first tier athlete should conduct himself in representing his team.

Brind'Amour

I agree with you. I was critical of his early year play, you know the typical fair-weather fan. But the character he displayed and how he has handled things have really changed my attitude. This guy is class and still an effective hockey player. My hats off to him.
