Hurricanes Late Season Try-Outs

We were at casino night, and you know how the team's been talking about bringing in new assets for next season? Well... It turns out they must be really desperate, because Cyn4Canes and I are going to get a chance to try out for the team!
OK, so really they auctioned off a "Hurricanes Try-Out," and we won the bid for it, but we can dream, can't we?
We're going to get a close-up view of practice, and then get to spend some time with Pete Friesen getting strength and conditioning tips. Then, it's time for the try-out, with Gleason and LaRose on the ice.
We haven't decided which of us is going to do it yet, only one of us can go out and skate. If the trial goes well, we'll be offered to sign a one-day contract with Rutherford, and get a personalized jersey.
When they were first announcing it, they didn't say who the players were, but as soon as Cyn4Canes and I heard it was Gleason and Rosie, we just had to go for it. Also up for bid was playing a table tennis tournament with Ruutu, Jussi, and Joni, which was really tempting. Of course, also temping was dinner with all 4 of the Olympians.
The trip with the team didn't go for as much as last year, but $16k is still a bit steep. Something to keep dreaming for, I suppose...

I’ve got a few pictures up on flickr, have to be in a client meeting for most of the day so will load more tonight. We had a blast. I didn’t bid on any of the items, although that ping pong tournament was verrrrrrry tempting along with some of the player baskets which were unreal.
RF, do you know when you’ll do the tryout? Just wondering what day it is, might have to try to make it to practice that day myself!

very nice LTD. those were pretty awesome. I loved the baskets, thats so cool. Did Ruutu’s have his olympic helmet from this year???? Had to laugh at Joni’s discription of his Finnish snacks. thanks for posting the link.

I look at these and the first thing that comes to my mind is that Boychuck is to young to attend an event like this! LOL

It will be on a “mutually agreed-upon date.” I need to email them and set it up still. :)
