Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Tim Gleason has a broken foot

So...I'm guessing McBain may be staying around for a bit. Just saw this from the Facebook group:

Tim Gleason broke a bone in his foot Saturday against Phoenix and will miss around three weeks, but could potentially return this season.

If it's that bad of an injury, they just need to get him rested and healed and shut it down for the rest of the season.

(and 6 more words so I can post!)

I’m not a doctor, but I’m a bit skeptical of the date of this particular injury. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that he broke his foot much earlier than Saturday. IMO, the shot he took off the foot against Phoenix may have made it worse (to the point he could no longer play), but I don’t think that was the moment he broke it.

I’d have to agree, I’m thinking this may have been that final straw on the camel’s back or something to that nature.

Can someone please get Manny a new shirt? He DESERVES one.

My thoughts exactly. I clearly remember him getting hit in the foot prior to the Olympics (but I can’t remember whether it was the right or left) and then he got hit in the foot again during the Olympics. Then he blocked a shot against the Pens and practically crawled to the bench (I think everyone remembers that play) and then took one off the foot against Phoenix a few days later. There is only so much abuse your bones can take.

Shut him down

No use risking something worse on this season.

I just wish JR would have given up Ray Whitney for Lent.

None what so ever. Play the guys looking to make the team/get a contract next year. see how that works out. Let Timmy take a break. He’s earned it and has nothing to prove to the team, the fans or anyone eles.

Totally agree. If he goes 3 weeks to the day, I think that puts him out until the last two games of the season. There is no point in playing him and risking further injury.

There’s a quote from that article that is now my signature. Damn Gleason – even Emperors need to take a break once in a while.

"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."

I wonder how much convincing it took to get him not to skate this morning. Or to accept that he wasn’t going to play tonight.

I’m sure all it took was Pete Friesen explaining the future damage he could do by skating on a broken foot. That and a couple of elephant tranquilizers.

My man-crush on the awesomeness that is Timmy allows me to wallow in the same sadness. :(

The only consolation I can offer is that he will be back.

And, next season should be the beginning of what will be considered his prime years, when History records them.
