Like over buy the busses? Ive never met the players unless I had creds. Ive seen crowds over on that side of the arena but I never stayed around. You know how the drive back to town is,lol.

This isn't the NFL!!!
I prefer the the “safe” sign or pointing to center.
Sigh. My mom called. I thought we had a deal — I won’t call during NASCAR if she won’t call during hockey.
So I gues I still haven’t missed much?
not really. End to end action, no penalties , not many stopages. Washington had a goal disallowed. McBain’s shot looks really really good
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I just let it go to voice mail when I’m watching hockey. Then listen to the message to determine if it’s an emergency and I need to call back.
"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."
That was a smart play by Peters on the Semin shot. He started going down, but noticed Semin was going to try and top shelf it, so he stood up a little to stop the shot. Again, that was a smart play.

or as Johnny said it “Peters goes down and stays up”. Agree very smart play. Semin is so dangerous from the side of the net. (not so much fighting though, lol)

Wow...
They are looking better tonight than they have in the last 2 games…WTH. Why couldn’t they play like this against Boston or Phoenix? :(
Thank you Jim Rutherford and Ray Whitney for working together for Ray to stay a Hurricane! :)
We always play Washington tough. I don’t know what the difference is but we seem to be finding alot more ice out there tonight.
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Here’s a question for everyone. Are the Canes that bad as passers or do the forwards have hands of stone? Has anybody else noticed the difference between our passing and Washington’s?

"That’s what happens when you suck" - Tim Gleason
it should never have happend. I know we have had alot of PPs lately but still. Ruutu was taken out of the play and was no where near the puck.
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions
Why not put Boychuk on the PP instead of Rod? Wouldn’t it make since to get him some experience there? I really do not understand this coaching staff. I guess that why Mo has a career losing record.

MoRon remember???? You can’t hate on Mo without hating on Ronny. I would be willing to be he has as much if not more say on the power play than anyone.
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions
I would love to see that, the only reason Rod is on the PP unit is his f/o skills
"That’s what happens when you suck" - Tim Gleason
I understand Rod’s faceoff percentage, but with the season virtually over – I would try to gain experience for the so called key contributors next year. I guess that’s why I’m not the coach, but at least my career coaching record is .500.

Boychuk on the Power Play
Later in the game, Boychuk was put on the power play and suddenly the entire team looked faster. It makes zero sense to me that Brind’Amour would ever play on the power play for the remainder of his Hurricanes career.
Am I the only one who sits here singing “kill the penalty, kill the penalty” to the tune of “Kill the Wabbit!” ?
i’ll go out on a limb and say probably.

Who we do have next year, versus no guarantees on Corvo.
That 17-year-old Hokie sitting in the rafters in Greensboro didn't see any of this coming.
And a guy who is almost as good and we could more than likely resign for cheaper…
oh and a second round pick next year.
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions
I don't know about almost as good...
…but the benefit to Pothier, if we resign him, is that he can flex into the physical role more easily than Corvo. We’ve got a lot of puck movers in the system, and while Corvo is very, very good at that role, that might not be what we need (especially at the length of contract he should want at his age).
That 17-year-old Hokie sitting in the rafters in Greensboro didn't see any of this coming.
Pothier
Pothier seemed to be struggling tonight. He seemed behind the play much of the night. I have been impressed with him; and I wonder if he got down with himself for his turnover against the Bruins.
Thats good. He only has 28 more to go…
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions
Not a real good look by Peters there.
Way out, not 100% square and not strong on his skates at all, easy money for Corvo on the shot or the pass.
That 17-year-old Hokie sitting in the rafters in Greensboro didn't see any of this coming.
So Corvo and Cullen have goals against us. To bad we don’t play the Ducks. It would be nice to see AWard actually do something for his team, even if it was against us.

It was the highlight of my night.
Actually, my wife was approached by the “finders”. As she’s shy (we make a pair) she grabbed me and I got to do it.
Now I want to win the lottery (I won a Canes’ pack at the lottery table) and have the Canes make the playoffs this year.
Then in 50 to 100 years and more Canes Stanley Cups (let’s see, 1 every 4 years isn’t too greedy is it? so 25 more Cups as well) then I can die a happy man.
If the guys and gals who brought you the financial meltdown deserve big bonuses, where do I sign up?
He needs to change his avatar to a picture of his chooler…

Someone mention timmy stopping by for a CC get-together
but its way up there, but I did have this to add. Maybe Bob can do something with this.
On the sbnation raiders blog (silverandblackpride.com) Tyvon Branch is emailed questions asked in a thread set up for this. Members of the blog can post in that thread and they pick the questions for Tyvon to answer when he gets a chance. Quick little email when he has time.
Would be pretty neat here.
Neat idea but
Might be scary. The guys might get a bunch of “boxers, briefs or commando?”-type questions from all the women here.

I was joking, refering to comment earlier when a guy said RESIGN JUSSI NOW. I didn’t know that you cant resign a guy when he has years left on his contract. Don’t know why you would want to but…
by CarolinaCanes on Mar 18, 2010 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

I do believe that JR should resign Jussi and Sutter to extensions as soon as the season is over. Lock them up, so you don’t have to worry about another team pouching them at the end of next season.

It is not even isolated to hockey, it is unspoken law you do not talk about no hitters, shut outs, wins, losses, etc.. until they happen, to speak of them before is to risk the jinx!
Hockey gods are not to be angered. Yes its superstition, but how many times this season has he mentioned the shutout to then have the other team finally squeak a goal in. Or the "well with this victory tonight he will have beaten blah blah blah…. Goal. sigh

Peters didn’t have his best game, but played well. I hope Cam comes back healthy and next season we have Cam playing about 45 to 50 games and Peters playing 30 to 35 games. This way we don’t overburden 1 goalie and have someone on his game, but not tired going into the playoffs.
