Kai Kantola Signs For Tryout With Norfolk Admirals
Local hockey product Kai Kantola signed an amateur tryout contract with the Norfolk Admirals last week, after finishing his career at Bowling Green State University. The forward played a total of 135 games for BGSU over his four year career and tallied 28 goals, 26 assists, and had 13 powerplay goals.
Kantola is a Raleigh native and is a product of the area's youth hockey leagues.
The Hurricanes invited him to their prospect conditioning camp this past summer and we had a chance to speak with him. It seems like his career is headed in the direction he was hoping for.
Perhaps the Charlotte Checkers would be interested in offering him a pro tryout next fall?
Best of luck to Kantola. We will be watching.
(glove tap to Keith for the heads up)

Does that make him a North Carofinlander?
Congrats to Kai! Best of luck to him. Hope he helps bring NC hockey talent to the big leagues.
"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."
