The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that they have signed Plymouth Whalers defenseman Michal Jordan to an entry level contract. It's a three year, two-way contract which pays the youngster a $170,000 signing bonus. He will earn $60,000 in the minors and $550,000 in the NHL.
For now, he will join the Albany River Rats and try to get some AHL playoff experience. It's expected that he will play in Charlotte next season, sharing the same home facilities as his namesake, Michael Jordan's Bobcats.
Jordan scored 13 goals and had 32 points in 41 games last season in Plymouth. He placed second in the OHL for defensemen with 11 powerplay goals.
