TSN had a great article outlining the UFAs for this season.
Cullen makes some great points in the article; but to me the most interesting part of the UFA list is how few forwards are available -- and particularly forwards who might fit with the Hurricanes' budget and style of play. Of the top six type of forwards, only Frolov and Plekanec even seem to be close and both are likely to be priced out of the Hurricanes' universe. Taylor Pyatt had a good season and he is a player who could ultimately find his game at Carolina. Still, Pyatt is not the scoring forward for the first line that the Hurricanes need.
There are overall more defensemen available; but the price for some of the top defensive UFAs may be beyond the Hurricanes' team budget.
This article would be one to save and to use as a guide as the trades and signings pick up in the off-season.
