Centerman Zac Dalpe has been getting a lot of attention here and in Albany for his 6 goals (and 7 points) in his first 7 games up in Albany. NHL.com does a weekly feature on promising players in the AHL and this morning ran a great story on the River Rats' Zac Dalpe. Check it out at this link below

Good for him! Cant wait to see him in his first NHL game
"ll kidding aside, the Hurricanes are a much better team with Sutter on the ice and out of the penalty box"
I have been blown away by the recent Rat highlight reels of this kid. He has a GREAT one-timer, an amazing sharp angle shot, works hard deep in the offensive zone, seems already comfortable with the size and speed of the AHL (really a testament to the NCAA), and I could easily see him coming up and making a roster spot next year.
It would be a dream to win the Draft lottery and see a Boychuk – Dalpe – Hall as a 3rd line next year. Talk about speed and offense.
Third Line Next Season
It would indeed be a dream come true for the Hurricanes to obtain Hall via winning the lottery. The more I see Dalpe, the more impressed I am with him. Even if that does not happen, I am starting to think that the Hurricanes may well use a third line of (1) Boychuk/Dalpe/Tlusty or (2) Boychuk/Dalpe/Bowman or (3) Boychuk/Dalpe/Cole or (4) Boychuk/Dalpe/Connolly. I am wondering if the Hurricanes by moving their AHL team to Charlotte won’t follow an approach like at San Jose where they rotated a number of young forwards in and out of the line-up to give them NHL experience. If Dalpe can take over as third line center, it opens up many, many possibilities.
The Hockey News
The accolades just keep on coming, as now Hockey News leads off their “weekly collection of the kids we’re excited to see in the NHL some day” with Zac Dalpe at #1:
1. Zac Dalpe, C – Albany River Rats (AHL): The former Ohio State Buckeye has been gold for the Rats since his college career ended. Dalpe, playing with former Toronto first round draft pick Jiri Tlusty, has seven points in seven AHL games, including a hat trick against Syracuse. Look for him to get a shot with the Canes next season. Drafted 45th overall by Carolina in 2008.
Awesome – the accolades keep rolling in, don’t they?
