Like all great ideas, this one was born by accident during a live game thread. Can men have "pretty" eyes? Well if the following guys are any indication, men most certainly can have pretty eyes. I'm sure that I've only just scratched the surface of the best eyes in the NHL so feel free to post any of your favorites in the comments. Enjoy ladies!
First up, we'll take a gander at the guys who make Ol' Blue Eyes seem average at best.
Taylor Pyatt of the Vancouver Canucks. Please note how the blue of his uniform highlights his best feature.
Martin Biron of the New York Islanders. Once again, pairing a piece of blue clothing with a set of laser eyes really stops the ladies in their tracks.
Tuomo Ruutu of the Carolina Hurricanes. Needless to say, I had plenty of choices for this picture. But I couldn't get past the smile lines around his eyes. Thanks to LTD for both the picture and the zoom help.
Bryan Rodney of the Carolina Hurricanes. Again thanks go to LTD for getting us this AMAZING closeup. Something about the combination of bright blue eyes and dark hair really gets me. What do y'all think? ;)
Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks. Defensive stud? Check. Norris Trophy finalist? Check. 2010 Olympian? Check. Gorgeous eyes? Check. Yeah that Duncan is the complete package.
Niclas Wallin of the Carolina Hurricanes San Jose Sharks (yeah I miss him a little). Clearly we gave up more than the Secret Weapon's OT goal scoring when we traded Nicky to SJ, but lucky for us, pictures like these live o...what the heck is he wearing on his head?
Patrick Eaves of the Detroit Red Wings. Patrick Eaves may not have left a big impression on the Carolina Hurricanes' record books, but those eyes will forever be remembered.
Jaroslav Halak of the Montreal Canadiens. His inspired play against Washington and Pittsburgh have hockey fans everywhere asking "Jaroslav Halak who?" But it's a given that eyes like that have gotten the ladies' attention a long time ago.
Patrick Sharp of the Chicago Blackhawks. There are many reasons why Sharpie was named one of Chicago's Sexiest Athletes. Two of them reside below his eyebrows and above his cheekbones.
Now don't think that pretty eyes have to be blue! Au contraire, there are some swoon-worthy brown eyes out there. Take a look for yourself:
Sheldon Souray of the Edmonton Oilers. Talk about tall, dark and handsome...holy cow.
Rick DiPietro of the New York Islanders (or the IR?). It's a shame that DiPi is hurt so often because you know those peepers are wasted on the reporters in the press box.
Shane O'Brien of the Vancouver Canucks. Big, brown and with a definite puppy dog quality to them, O'Brien's eyes are something special.
Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres. Now I know what you're thinking: "Ryan Miller on a 'best of' list that isn't about bad playoff beards-the world must be ending!" Not so fast though. Check out the long eyelashes and Eyeore-esque quality of the eyes themselves. Let it sink in a little bit...trust me.
Andrew Cogliano of the Edmonton Oilers. Some of my favorite things that are brown-chocolate, my dogs, Andrew's eyes. We have to get him in the Eastern Conference so we can see more of those eyes!
Brandon Sutter of the Carolina Hurricanes. Now his eyes aren't truly brown; in fact I'm not exactly sure what color they are which gives everyone an excuse to closely study this picture! But I think we can all agree that they're pretty. Once again, thanks to LTD for the zoomed in version of this picture which coincidentally is my new computer background.
Like I said, I'm sure that I've only just begun to find the best eyes in the NHL so please add any of your favorites below! Perhaps this should become a semi-regular feature for the summer-best smile, best hair...anything to help pass the time.
