Draftees and other prospects to take part in conditioning and on-ice workouts
RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Associate Head Coach/Director of Player Personnel for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will hold its annual conditioning camp in Raleigh, July 7-10. Hurricanes Head Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach Peter Friesen will run the camp for 13 prospects, teaching the players proper conditioning techniques to help them prepare for careers in professional hockey.
In addition to physical training techniques and testing, the players at the camp will have seminars covering other areas including motivational techniques, media training and proper eating habits, including a trip to the grocery store with a nutritionist. On-ice sessions will be led by Francis, Assistant Coach Tom Barrasso, Director of Defensemen Development Glen Wesley and Charlotte Checkers Head Coach Jeff Daniels, and will take place each day at the RecZone at 4:45 p.m. Media interested in covering the on-ice portions of conditioning camp should contact Mike Sundheim or Kyle Hanlin. Should be fun
I plan to be there Thursday & Saturday. Always fun to see the young kids. Hopefully Skinner is in great shape to make a push for a roster spot. I figured they’d be bringing back Dalpe since he only played a few AHL games but I guess they’re thinking bigger things for him.
Jared will likely have the most to prove given his reputation at this point.
Think Murphy will be back again?

One of Skinner's really good traits is typically his fitness.

Hmm Staal, Sutter, and Skinner. Just need a fourth line center whose last name starts with an ‘S’ to have the “Senters”.
You'll probably see Skinner as a top-line wing before you see him as a third-line center.
We ain’t got the money to be burying talent like that.

Mike did an interview with Skinner this morning on the Buzz. Man, he sounded so young and his voice just beamed with excitement to be drafted. Mike and Mark were teasing him about the conditioning camp with Friesen and they told him to think of most intense pain he has experienced and times it by 10. He just laughed it off and I believe he is ready to show us how great he will be.
Is it October yet?
Skinner and the Prospect Camp
Well, we tried to give Skinner some insight with comments to XMRadio. The word is that Skinner is intensely fit and takes pride in his work ethic, including training. The more I read about him, the more I like the fact the Hurricanes took him #7. How cool would it be if Skinner, Tlusty, Boychuk, Dalpe, Bowman, and Osala joined with Sutter, Staal, Ruutu, and Jokinen, and LaRose, and made some NHL waves? All young forwards with their best day ahead of them.
Sounds like the 09-10 Blackhawks. In a good way.
