All Star Game Tickets
I just got a call from the Hurricanes Ticket Office. I had signed up for the waiting list for ASG tickets. He was kind enough to call me and let me know there would be no retail tickets available, only tickets available to STH's and the league. Thought I'd pass on the news.
FWIW, the rep added that there would likely be retail tickets available for the skills competition and young stars scrimmage (it's not really a game, let's be honest).
Luckily for me, my sis signed up for season tickets specifically to get into the ASG, so i still have a potential in. But this is kind of lame for those without that opportunity. Good added value for the STH's, sure, but not all hockey fans are STH's.

I got a call from them as well a week ago telling me the same thing. Me and a friend came up with a scheme to get a 12-game mini pack just for the All-Star game. Since I live in the mountains and he lives in Raleigh the tickets wouldn’t go to complete waste.
However, when they announced Rod Brind’amour Night I decided to put my extra money towards getting the best seats I can for that game as well as the gas and energy drinks it takes to get to Raleigh and back in one night.. but I believe it shall be totally worth the trouble! The All-Stars can kiss it!
(It's a Caniac Thing)
12-game
You will get what is left from the 26’s and 41’s, if there are any. The Hurricanes made a point of saying that only a limited number of seats will be offered to those buying 12-game packages so you may not even get the chance.

I wonder if season ticket holders can buy extra tickets…?
if so, I will have to get my parents to get me one. :)
Jim Rutherford is a moron.
Not that I have heard
I have not heard anything like that, we are just guaranteed a seat for each seat we own.
We actually got more seats this year specifically because of the allstar game.

No, you will get the chance to buy the amount of seats you own as a STH.

I too got the high pressure sales talk about how the only way to have a shot at All Star tickets was to become season ticket holder, but was dropped like I was stolen when I told the guy I was not in a postion to buy season tickets. He calls about once a week telling me all about the great deal I missing and how much money he can save me.
I attend a few games a year, but live a couple of hours a way……….
Even if...
you live a couple hours away, you could consider this an investment. You buy the tickets, make the payments, sell every single game on Ticketmaster’s ticket exchange or craigslist for face value, basically getting money back and then some. This way, you save up your money and get all-star game tickets.

Here’s a little more information from what I’ve heard. Our ticket rep told us that ASG priority is to full STH’s, 26-game plan holders and then 12-game plan holders. He also said that 12-game people (this may extend to 26-game as well-I can’t remember) would only have the option of the game OR the skill competition, not both.
"What Carolina really has going for them is Brandon Sutter. When that kid first showed up, he looked like a skinny little thing that wouldn’t last two weeks. But he’s turned into a real star."
26-game STH get both the skills competition and ASG priority.
"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."
Well to all of you
who are STH’s…have fun, enjoy yourselves, and above all Be Safe !!
And if it Aint Hockey,It Aint Nothin !!
That Checkers 3rd Sweater ROCKS !!!
I’m still confused on how they plan on handling this. Suppose there are 14k season and 26 game ticket holders this year, The NHL takes 8k for sponsors and whoever else… then who doesnt get tickets? Ive got a 26 game plan but get knocked down the SAS pecking order every year behind any new season ticket holder, which I understand and am fine with. They must have a set amount of season tickets they can get rid of and still guarantee the ASG is the only thing I can think of.
I have a feeling they have a set amount they can guarantee to season ticket holders. Once they meet that, they will stop saying saying new season ticket holders get seats. You can still sign up for STs after the deadline, just loose your priority maybe?
Just like they do with Price Icing and other promos….there is a cutoff date.
Who knows, I have been wondering the same thing though. Are some people going to get screwed? I can see it happening, I hope not though.

I also heard that STH’s are guaranteed tickets, but not their seats. Supposedly, the NHL reserves certain sections (center, lower bowl, 2nd level?) and those STH’s have to move. Whether that means a ripple effect down thru the ranks or what, I haven’t heard. This is just rumor at this point.
I could not IMAGINE top-seat STHs being forced to upper corners.

Won't happen!
HOWEVER, anything can happen for the right amount of money. If Pepsi or some bigtime corporate sponsor came in and bought a section for an incredible amount of money, you better believe you would be sent packing…to the back!

This is true. As Season Ticket Holders, we are guaranteed a seat, but we are not guaranteed either our seat nor or our section. I assume the priority for seat assignment will be similar to Select-a-Seat where consideration is given to account creation date and plan, and patrons will be seated in best available locations for their comparable plan.
I have a 26-game plan with decent account creation priority, and I sit lower level in Sideline Premier, but I’m not expecting to have lower level available to me for the ASG. Quite frankly I’m happy that as a partial plan holder I have their commitment to get me in the building.

As a STHer I have the option to buy both games, but I’m not sure I’m going to buy the game tickets yet. I definitely want to go to the skills competition, but depending on the cost for both events (really wish they’d tell us already), I have to forgo the game. Several of my other STH friends have made similar comments. Not sure how that will impact the “trickle down” effect as far as priority.
If I were you, I’d consider buying both anyway, with the intent to resell if you needed to, as it would probably be quite easy to resell them (or even advertise them in advance of your purchase and get a buyer) versus giving them up and letting them go back into a pool.

Regarding ticket prices, our mileage may certainly vary, but a friend of mine who is a Canes STH purchased a mini-STH plan the year the ASG was in Atlanta… 2008, so three years/two events ago. There were no retail sales for the Atlanta ASG, you had to be a season-ticket holder.
Here are their approximate ticket prices. I believe the ASG and Super Skills/Young Stars were part of the STH package and could not be purchased separately, but the other events were add-ons. Game seating was in the Upper Level at probably the equivalent of our Section 327-328.
Fan expo $20
Coaches symposium $20
Practice $50
Super Skills/Young Stars $65
All-Star Game $130

Actually those prices aren’t too bad all things considered. Granted that was several years ago, but hopefully the prices haven’t gone up too much.
