NHL 11 Demo Available Now
For those of you in the gaming persuasion (like I am), EA released their NHL 11 demo yesterday (8/17, Tuesday). If you've liked the past entries, I would SERIOUSLY give this a shot. Great time to release this now, as it lets you get a bit of a hockey fix in before the good stuff starts soon.
The demo puts you in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, Philadelphia @ Chicago, Game 7, tied 2-2 in the 3rd period. It keeps going until someone wins.
In my case, I took Chicago (surprise!). 3rd period ended, still tied up. 1st overtime passed by, still no score.
2nd overtime, 1 minute to go. Patrick Kane bursts out on the right side, flies up and around TPCP (just for LTD. :D ) and rushes in on Michael Leighton. Kane gets hooked by Pronger as he goes in, and fires a shot right at Leighton's shoulder...
...but wait...Penalty Shot! The crowd goes nuts! Kane lines up, moves in, dekes from left to right, then buries a backhander up and over Leighton to win the game and the Cup! Pandemonium ensues.
I admit...I kinda yelled out when I scored. Hunter did too. :)
New features for this year include broken sticks, the ability to play without a stick, disallowed goals, true physics-based checks, and a LOT more. I HIGHLY suggest you try this out if you have a PS3 or an Xbox 360.

LOL Tachi! Thanks for pulling the TPCP reference.
That’s the one that lets you suit up the Canes in Whaler jerseys, correct?

It seemed a little slow for me and the 1st shot I took was a broken stick slapper ( I’m going to break a controller, I can already tell ). Other than that, I give it a solid A. I’m crapping myself until it releases on the 7th. Anyone play this on PS3? I play OTP with quite a few Canes fans and we’re always looking for more people to play with. Network ID is the same as my tag here. Hit me up if you don’t mind potty humor and want to play!
Satan is just a coping mechanism for monotheists.
Man, maybe im getting old, but Im still playing 09. I’ve got 10 but its just too damn much sim going on. I mean, I had a winning record but all games were 2-1 with the occasional 3-1 with an empty netter. I tried to sell my ‘10 but found no takers, maybe I’ll pick it back up sometime. Anyone know how ’11 compares to ’10?
EA’s blog is a good place to start. New faceoffs, a physics engine for hits, CHL teams and players, Be A Pro starting from the Memorial Cup, and Hockey Ultimate Team.
If you want content, go to the Copper and Blue. If you want numbers, go to Behind the Net. If you want humor, go to Pension Plan Puppets. If you want discussion, go to Broad Street Hockey. If you want bravery, go to Five For Howling.
If you want all of the above, go to Japers' Rink.

Yea I gave the demo a blast and was impressed, seems like a step up from last years =D
The Ultimate Team should keep you entertained for hours too, my housemate plays FIFA 10 a lot and they got Ultimate Team in last years game and it seemed very addictive, so look out!
Like I needed anything else to leech my time. Now I just have to set up twin displays so I can have the game run at the same time the real Canes play! :P
