i had to laugh
about the grudge match in golf…the tone of Zach Boychuk is that he is very appriciative of what the canes org. did for him as a player…and i do look for good things from him this coming season
And if it Aint Hockey,It Aint Nothin !!
That Checkers 3rd Sweater ROCKS !!!
Boychuk Interview
I thought the interview showed how critical it was for an organization to treat all its players respectfully and to keep the young players fully informed as to the team’s long term plans. To a large degree the interview helps explain why the organization responded the way it did to the fourteen game losing streak. I also was interested that Boychuk explained his weight was hovering around 190 lbs. He says he is between 5’9" and 5’10" – which suggests that he has been able to put on some weight over the off-season. It’s an interview well worth reading. He, too, recognizes that the competition for roster spots in training camp is going to be very intense.
Checkers Practice Facility
I did a little intel work last night and skated “adult pick up” at the Checkers practice facility in Indian Trail/Charlotte. The facility was fantastic. They have two ice surfaces and a mini rink for kids. The facility has a full gym upstairs and is very modern in every aspect. I asked around about the local buzz and was a bit disappoited that more people were not as amped about the new AHL Cane affiliation. The zamboni guy was fully aware nad excited, but the local skaters, not as much. We need to travel down and get them going.

2 years to the Cup
oh – maybe CC needs to organize a weekend skate party in Charlotte?
Sounds like a nice facility… nicer than the RecZone. :/
"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."
