Best wishes to Aaron Ward!
Maybe he’ll stick around in the area and find his way to a Hurricanes broadcast booth.
"The increase in pain is way beyond what you would expect a person to play with," said coach Paul Maurice. "Unfortunately it’s even beyond what Tim Gleason can play with, because he can play with just about anything."
Hopefully everyone can move past “The Punch” and the rough 2009-10 season. Ward was a huge part of this first era of Carolina Hurricanes hockey. Seems like he was here much more than about five seasons.

I won’t have a hard time forgetting about the last two years of Aaron Ward.
Definitely prefer to remember the finer vintage.

Int he history of the storied University of Michigan hockey program, no one has more that Ward’s three Cups. John Madden also got his third this year, and Pat Hughes won one with Habs (1979) and two with the Oilers (1984, ’85).

Aaron Ward
I am way beyond the punch; and also am beyond last season’s disastrous performance by Aaron Ward. After all, if Aaron Ward had been good, the Canes might not have finished low enough to get Skinner and the other additions to the Hurricanes team. I think the 2010 draft and transactions are a sea chance for the Hurricanes organization.
I thought Aaron Ward was a tremendous part of the 2005-2006 season’s success. He is a very articulate, funny, quick-witted person and hopefully he will be able to have some connection with the hockey media in Raleigh. I’d take him over Mike Maniscalco or as a duo with Maniscalco any day. Who knows maybe he can get some time with John and Tripp as well. He deserves a shot as a commentator. I hate his last season with the Canes turned out so badly; but it’s one poor season in a long body of work.

Very good, well-spoken guy off the ice
Aaron Ward is a great guy off the ice as well as on the ice, and I’m glad to see he’s retiring to get some well-deserved rest. Would love to see him come back into the fold with the Hurricanes as some sort of announcer or commentator or something similar. :)
Jim Rutherford is a moron.
